No surprises for this item. Appears to be a well built quality unit. Easy installation, took about 20 minutes. I ordered the extra sink stopper and splash guard as I couldn't tell if it was included with the disposal. When we opened the box we found that it was included, so no need to order one unless you just want an extra one. Don't forget to remove the little splash plug that's inserted in the port for the dishwasher drain (if you have a dishwasher). Good luck

This review is for the stopper and not the actual waste king disposal (disposer works great though and easy install for our plumber). We've had the disposer for a few years now and for some reason the old rubber one kind of stretched with washing it in dishwasher, I guess. Anyway, when I would push food down, the splash guard sometimes would fall in the hole. Bought the new one and although my hole was slightly over 3", the guard I received was 3" and I carefully worked it down, voila, fits perfectly and doesn't fall in when I push food down. I'm anticipating that it too may stretch somewhat with use, so I will order another one to keep on hand when I order some other item from Amazon. I'm wondering how much research others did when looking for a splash guard as there seem to be so many complaints. Have patience and just slowly work around the circle as you seat the guard in, it will fit! Yes, would have preferred to buy just the splash guard and not the stopper as I already had one.

I wish Amazon would separate their reviews for actual guards or disposers, not bunch them in altogether. This goes for other companies also. Case in point are the TV's, looking at reviews I would find all different models for same brand in one place. Time consuming when one is trying to get an accurate review.

This splash guard is horribly designed!! It is so stiff that you actually have to push every single bit of waste down its throat with your hand or a utensil! When you push against one of the six triangles, the other 5 remain rigid so you have a very small opening! They wear out in a few months because they are all chewed up from the way you have to push the food down! Even the cheapest InSinkerator models have a better splash guard design! You push against one side and they all open up! If the food is heavy enough, you don't even need to push...it just slides down the opening by itself! How convenient!! While the extra horsepower might be great if you're in a commercial kitchen, for every day use the Waste King is way too frustrating. Next time I'm buying an InSinkerator!

This appears to be the same junk I received with my disposer. The flimsy rubber gasket comes off nearly every time I remove the stopper from the sink. A durable machine like this should not be sold with such a cheap part. The opening of Waste King is a quarter of an inch smaller than most disposers, so a stopper from the hardware store will not fit.
If anyone knows of a replacement that will fit, I'm listening.

First, let me say I don't know why reviews for disposals are found through out the views for the Stopper and Splash Guard 1025. Odd.

Second, I bought the Waste King L-1001 Legend Series 1/2 HP disposal, 20 June 2008, which was easily installed and has operated perfectly for the last three years and hopefully many more. I was never satisfied with the OEM Splash Guard which came with it and was installed in the disposal because it was very, very stiff and almost impossible to push large particles through.

I order the 1025 Splash Guard and Stopper for which this review is about and I have to say at this time that it was not only a perfect fit but also that it is certainly not as stiff as the OEM part. I'm greatly satisfied with my order and would recommend the 1025 to anyone who has a disposal drain that is 3-1/8 to 3-1/4" diameter. I don't think it would fit a 3" or drain 3-1/2" or larger.

FIRST EDIT:

The splash guard I order three years ago worked perfectly up until it seemed to get more stiff through age causing problems of food passing through so I ordered the exact same one Aug 1, 2014. Fits perfectly in the 3.15" drain and is pretty flexable and allows food to pass through easily enough equal to the previous one when it was new. I have no cons for this splash guard and would recommend it to anyone who has the same size drain.

I bought this splash guard 10 months ago and absolutely hate it. My previous one was great. Food and water passed through it easily yet it still buffered the sound of the disposal. I thought it was the same model as this one and if it was, then they must have changed the design or something because this one is horrible. I have to constantly push through even the smallest amount of food or the water backs up. It also doesn't keep up with the rate of my faucet water rate so I'm always having to wait for it to drain. I also end up with soap suds and such that don't drain out easily with the water. If my old one hadn't worn out, I'd still be using it. I've put up with this thing all these 10 months hoping it would loosen up a bit and drain better but it hasn't. Now I'm trying to find a replacement for it since I'm tired of fighting with it. Unless you are desperate or don't mind having your sink constantly backed up until you push the smallest bits of food and water through then go ahead and buy it. For the rest of you, I'd suggest you find another one and try it instead. If I find one that works better, I will come back and update this review.
