Top customer reviews
I think the negative reviews come from people not understanding when this adapter is needed and when it is not. I will try to make that clear:
If your new disposal uses a 3 bolt mount, you can't use this adapter.
If your new disposal uses EZ mount and you plan to remove the old 3 bolt mount, or you are attaching to a sink without an old disposal, you don't need this adapter since the new disposal should come with a complete set of EZ mount hardware.
If your new disposal uses EZ mount and you already have a 3 bolt mount installed in your sink drain (from an old disposal), this adapter will save you the work of removing it and installing the new EZ mount hardware.
If your new disposal uses EZ mount and you already have an EZ mount installed, you don't need this adapter.
So this product was great for my application, and installation worked out well. However, I'd also like to note that using this adapter will make your disposer sit a little bit lower than it's supposed to because you will essentially have two mounts connecting it to your drain: the ISE quick mount AND the Waste King EZ mount. That's just the way it works.
Any new disposal will come with a mounting system so that you won't NEED this adapter. If you want to keep your old 3-bolt mount in place and your new disposal is NOT a 3-bolt mount (EZ Mount, for example) you will WANT this adapter.
We got a new Waste King Disposal. EZ Mount. The new flange is chrome. All of our kitchen trim (including sink drains and faucet) are brushed nickel. So, for this reason, I WANTed to keep the existing fixtures in place and that was a 3-bolt mount.
Also, as this was already mounted, puttied, leak-free and happy, I decided it would be much easier NOT to re-do the mount. Hence the WANT for this adapter.
Given that, it was very easy to install on the disposal (in place of some parts of the EZ Mount system) and made installation of the new dispsal as simple as rotating the lower flange into place, connecting the dishwasher and waste plumbing and plugging it in,
So, you likely don't NEED this. But you get to decide, based on some of the considerations above, whether you WANT it.
"InSinkErator Evolution Excel 1.0 HP Household Garbage Disposer"
That is the quietest disposal ever but a lot more cost. The main factor is in the starting of the disposal motor, waste king clicks on with a knock and then purrs on fine very quietly. The more costly disposal must have a way to ramp up the motor speed and not create the startup knock noise. Now on the negitive of the
"InSinkErator Evolution Excel 1.0 HP Household Garbage Disposer" is the rubber gasket at the sink level that allows food and water down is not good it needs an update as it restricts the flow of water to drain down and causes the sink to act like its backing up, I had to cut sleeves on the rubber gasket to allow water to flow better. That fixed the problem mostly but it required me to revisit the job and fix (not happy)
