Not sure where the first reviewer got his rating from, but I'll tell you about my experiences thus far. I purchased this crystal press for one mission only: to install custom sapphire crystals in my seiko mod/creations. I had horrible experience with a lever style press (it broke while pressing a super-dome sapphire into a seiko skx007). Anyone that does crystal modifications will tell you to use a vise style press with nylon cup dies as it will provide even secure pressure. I have done 3 sapphire crystal installs with this puppy, and all have been flawless. Make sure you have a good set of nylon dies (I use the extensive set that came from my junky lever style press). Anyways, if you're like me looking for some decent mod tools, then this is the one you should get (hey, not all of us have 600 bucks to buy a friggin' Burgeon press!). Hope this review helps somebody. Peace.

I own a lever style press and it would do the job for most cases. I had one watch which was giving me trouble and it just would not close. I would drop my weight on the handle and it would just slip. I looked at a few presses and decided to try this one. Because of the two supports on both sides, I figured that the force would be applied evenly. I tried the watch that I was having issues with and it snapped in immediately! I will be using this from now on! I only wish it came with more dies.

You will get what you pay for!
This is the contrary of a precise tool for watch backs.
You better decide to have your battery replaced by a jewelery shop.
