About the author

Living in Northern New Jersey originally from Long Island, Jill Prand is a wife and mother of two girls. She's been an avid reader all her life, spending Sunday afternoons curled up with a good book. "We had a huge bookshelf in our den when I was a child with a diverse set of authors like Ayn Rand, Stephen King, Mario Puzo & Danielle Steele. I cut my literary teeth on Walter Farley, Judy Blume and SE Hinton before raiding my parents library." Jill is currently working on the Walking Series as well as a stand alone novel. She loves to hear from readers.

Lisa knew from the moment she met Bobby that he was the one for her. What she didn't expect was for Bobby to walk away from her. Heartbroken, Lisa did the unmentionable, forever changing her relationship with Brad. Here is where I feel Prand did a phenomenal job with the characters and made them true to life. Lisa, like most teenage girls who have had their heart broken, goes through the stages of breakups. She is angry, vengeful and understandably depressed. But once that is all said and done she makes the conscious choice of putting Bobby firmly in the past and moves forward... and away. Starting over someplace that does not remind her of Bobby, she builds a life for herself. At first I was critical about how quickly she seemed to get over the hurt when Bobby came back in to her life, but let's face it, who among us wouldn't jump at the chance at a second chance with the love of our lives but with the added bonus of maturity that will hopefully make things work the second time around?
I have to admit that I was on an emotional roller-coaster fro the very beginning. I began firmly on #TeamStuart. He just seems so perfect for her. But then there's Brad. The best friend who has always loved her and always been there. That being said, who wouldn't be firmly in #TeamBrad? But oh Bobby! Bobby is the flawed hero. Although I understand his motivation for breaking up with Lisa, I can't help but think that he could have gone about it in a completely different way. But this new Bobby is so sweet and romantic. I want to cheer for him and put my ballot in for #TeamBobby. As a reader this puts me at a disadvantage because I like the characters and someone is bound to get hurt. See where my emotional roller-coaster comes in? I want them all to be happy but as there is only one Lisa and three guys, two out of four of these characters are bound to be upset and heartbroken.
There were a couple of hit or misses for me, I felt that Lisa was getting too emotionally invested in Bobby too quickly given that she was still involved with Stuart. However, as a freshman novel, I am both impressed and delighted with the story Prand gave us. It was heartfelt and emotional and everything I look for when I want to escape in to my books. Watch Me Walk Away is bound to be one of my favorites for years to come.
WMWA is a story of an all consuming, punch drunk kind of love that starts between two teenagers but seems to end just as quick.
Lisa fell head over heels for Bobby when she was 15 years old. When she was 16 he left her broken hearted and shattered! He enlisted into the military and it was a long 6 years before she seen him again. Her world stands still when she is reunited with him in New York. "I can't look away, how can I be frozen when my body is on fire?" She's hurt, angry and still in love with him and tries in every way to convince herself he will Walk Away from her again and she needs to protect her heart. That, of course, doesn't last long. They fall back into each other harder and faster than either of them thought possible. "I will let you call all the shots, you tell me what you need and I will do it. I won't hurt you again, Lisa. I would rather die first."
I understand an All-consuming love like that and was pulled into their story from the beginning. By the end it was like I could feel their emotions. My heart broke when hers did, I smiled when she was shining bright with love. I worried with her when he was called away for a special "mission"! Thank you Jill Prand for reminding what a book hangover feels like!! "To say I'll miss you seems redundant, I've been missing you for years. People have called me heartless and they're right. My heart resides with you and the only time I feel anything is when I'm in your presence. My greatest hope is that you will give me your heart again so I can finally feel complete."~Bobby
She leaves us with an epilogue that leads us into Brads story... I may not have mentioned him in my review but he is definitely a key player in Lisa and Bobby's story. and it all starts that one New Years Eve...
Six years later at a gathering of friends from their high school, both Bobby and Brad show up. Lisa has just started dating Stuart, however the minute she sees Bobby, every feeling she felt for him returns. You can almost feel the heat existing from the chemistry between the two of them. (I was not a fan of Stuart's by the way.) This time Bobby's back to stay, and he's back for Lisa. Lisa soon discovers that Bobby has loved her all along, and she finds out why he left and understands. But don't forget the best friend Brad, who has always loved Lisa as more than a friend, and wants his chance to win Lisa's heart as well. Both guys are great, but I personally pulled for Bobby from the very beginning. I just felt more drawn to him. I won't tell you who she picks, but the book ends with you feeling there will be a second book where I hope the guy Lisa didn't pick gets his happily ever after too. I would certainly read it, and would love to know how Lisa and her man are doing.
I enjoyed the book and think it's a great read.
