"Jill Prand did an amazing job for a debut novel and I experienced a roller-coaster of emotions while reading it. I may have thrown my Kindle and screamed a bit but I also cried and laughed throughout this beauty!" -Seductive Romance Reviews
"When I started this book, I expected to have a sweet story with a couple twists. This book is so much more than that." -Babu's Bookshelf

I had the pleasure of beta reading Author Jill Prand's debut novel Watch Me Walk Away. This is a story of Lisa and Bobby who meet and fall in love during high school. When Bobby joins the military he makes the decision to end things with Lisa so she isn't left putting her life on hold waiting for him to return. Years later they reconnect and find that the love they shared is still just as strong. Fear that Bobby will leave again with a piece of her heart, Lisa must decide if the chance to renewed love is worth the risk of a broken heart.

I enjoyed this book. The love scenes got my heart racing a bit which is always a good thing. Something I've noticed that is missing in quite a few books that have erotic moments is seeing the emotional connection between the characters. I was happy to see the author include the parts of their story where Lisa and Bobby stay up all night talking on the phone. It's those moments that allow the reader to know the characters feelings aren't just based on lust and passion.

There are two areas that I found a bit disappointing. ***SPOILERS*** First of all, Bobby broke up with Lisa and left for the military. He returns professing his need for her, then leaves again. When reunited years later, he promises her that he'll never leave her again. Yet what does he do when hit with a fact from the past & an upcoming mission, he leaves again. This bothered me. How is she to trust him if he keeps leaving and using the excuse of he is doing it for her. Shouldn't she get to make that decision with him?! It made the climax of the story a bit anti-climatic, leaving me thinking, "oh, he's running again!" and Lisa's world is crashing down.

Is it possible to meet your true love when you're 15? That's the question Lisa asks her best friend, Jodi and to be honest with you, I may sound like a romantic but it is what it is. Some will tell you that at 15 you are too young to know real love and at most what you would feel is puppy love. I'd have to respectfully disagree. I think love is love. And you can meet that one person who is perfect for you in every way at any give time. Whether or not it works out is a different story.

Lisa knew from the moment she met Bobby that he was the one for her. What she didn't expect was for Bobby to walk away from her. Heartbroken, Lisa did the unmentionable, forever changing her relationship with Brad. Here is where I feel Prand did a phenomenal job with the characters and made them true to life. Lisa, like most teenage girls who have had their heart broken, goes through the stages of breakups. She is angry, vengeful and understandably depressed. But once that is all said and done she makes the conscious choice of putting Bobby firmly in the past and moves forward... and away. Starting over someplace that does not remind her of Bobby, she builds a life for herself. At first I was critical about how quickly she seemed to get over the hurt when Bobby came back in to her life, but let's face it, who among us wouldn't jump at the chance at a second chance with the love of our lives but with the added bonus of maturity that will hopefully make things work the second time around?

I have to admit that I was on an emotional roller-coaster fro the very beginning. I began firmly on #TeamStuart. He just seems so perfect for her. But then there's Brad. The best friend who has always loved her and always been there. That being said, who wouldn't be firmly in #TeamBrad? But oh Bobby!

There was SO much going on in this book. There’s the history that Lisa has with all of the characters (mainly the men currently and previously in her life)… as well as the interactions and opinions the men have of each other. There are all of the different ways that each characters actions have had an effect on who the other characters are. The title is perfect… because there is definitely ALOT of walking away. It was clever how different characters, at different times, were the ones doing the watching while others took turns being the ones walking. It was especially interesting to me… since the characters don’t necessarily notice that they’ve each had their turns being the one watched. Honestly… the whole book was a bit of a juggle.

I don’t know how I can give my further opinion without have a few little spoiler moments. So be warned… POSSIBLE SPOILERS AHEAD!!!

I had multiple times while reading that I wanted to reach into the book and shake some sense into a character. I CAN understand the in the beginning, all of the characters were really young (just graduating high school and after… as well as looking back to the relationships during high school). They were immature. They didn’t treat each other well. They made assumptions rather than communicating. I get that. But later on… I wanted someone, ANYONE, to just sit down and clear the air on past and present. FINALLY that one girl friend (I feel horrible that I can’t remember her name…. but she was really minor until she was major) steps in and tells Lisa ; you love Bobby… Bobby still loves you… you needed to know so you can make a decision. I wanted to stand up and cheer. BRAVO girl who’s name I can’t remember. I still wanted to shake sense into all of them after that though.
