Brad was Lisa's best friend and he loved her more than just a friend. I felt so bad for Brad on various occasions but I'm happy he was there for Lisa when no one else, not even Bobby, was.
This book is about a woman named Lisa, who six years ago got dumped by her boyfriend, Bobby, when he joined the military. He didn't contact her for six years until one day, Lisa sees him again. She, like many woman would in her position, had mixed feelings about seeing him again. She realized she never stopped loving him, but she also remembers how heartbroken she was when he left her. How lifeless she felt. How broken... But at the same time, when she is with Bobby she feels so happy, so filled with life. How can a love so strong sometimes hurt so bad?
This story tells the story of Lisa's and Bobby's new lives. Lisa will question herself a lot. Will she take Bobby back? Will she ever know the real reason why he left her and hasn't talked to her in over six years? And is Lisa strong enough to pull her self together if things with bobby break apart again?
I really like this book and would recommend it to anyone looking for a good book packed with lots of romance.
Some of my favorite quotes:
"I pick her up and hold her for just a second then turn and lift her over the barrier--the hardest thing I'll ever have to do is let her go."
"Where the hell did you say you got that man? Can you clone him and make one for me?"
"I won't hurt you again, Lisa. I would rather die first."
I don’t know how I can give my further opinion without have a few little spoiler moments. So be warned… POSSIBLE SPOILERS AHEAD!!!
I had multiple times while reading that I wanted to reach into the book and shake some sense into a character. I CAN understand the in the beginning, all of the characters were really young (just graduating high school and after… as well as looking back to the relationships during high school). They were immature. They didn’t treat each other well. They made assumptions rather than communicating. I get that. But later on… I wanted someone, ANYONE, to just sit down and clear the air on past and present. FINALLY that one girl friend (I feel horrible that I can’t remember her name…. but she was really minor until she was major) steps in and tells Lisa ; you love Bobby… Bobby still loves you… you needed to know so you can make a decision. I wanted to stand up and cheer. BRAVO girl who’s name I can’t remember. I still wanted to shake sense into all of them after that though.
I have to take a moment to say that while it wasn’t terribly surprising (after getting to know Lisa a bit)… I was really disappointed in how Lisa dealt with Stuart (the man she was dating when Bobby showed up again). I mean… I had no love for Stuart… but the way she strung him along instead of making a clean break… that was just wrong. I really can’t blame the guy for turning into an ass with her.
Sometimes… I have to say… no matter how much a character (or group of characters) drives me bonkers… I really enjoy them. I was rooting for Lisa to get her crap together and figure out exactly what (and who) was important to her. I kept hoping she would get out of her own way and find her happiness. And… I have to say that in the end… I was pretty happy with the ending. And… I can’t wait to see what happens in the next book. I’m still not convinced that Bobby, Lisa, and Brad are all where they should be.
