- Reviewed in the United States on June 26, 2018I needed a lightweight running backpack for long runs and an upcoming marathon, and as an owner of several CamelBak products, I planned to buy the CamelBak HydroBak for the purpose. However, I came across this backpack as I did my search and was intrigued by several features that I feel like are missing in the lighter weight CamelBak products.
I hesitated before buying, especially because there is no weight given (please add this to the description!), and I didn’t know if it would be lightweight enough. But with the less expensive price point and several awesome features, I decided to make the plunge.
Here are the things I love:
I love how the bite valve opens and closes. I actually prefer the pull up to open/push down to close over the open/close flip piece on the CamelBak hydration packs. And the hydration pack was so easy to close after filling (similar to the newest model hydration pack CamelBak just put out which was a huge step up from the old ones).
I LOVE the front pockets on the shoulder straps. One is big enough to fit my iPhone 7, and the other had a mesh pocket that holds all my gu packets with easy access and without spilling out. I love that! It is such a pain to try to access the gu packets from the back of a lightweight running pack while trying to keep pace.
The next feature I was so excited about and absolutely LOVE is the hooks on both sides that keep the tubing from flapping around as I run. This has always annoyed me to death on the CamelBak.
The backpack seems lightweight. I haven’t weighed it, but it hasn’t been cumbersome in any way. I was also worried that the shoulder straps would chafe along my arms as I ran, but it surprised me how little I noticed it there.
I also love the buckles across my chest (which was a must for me and not all the lightweight CamelBaks have) and across the stomach.
Now, for the only thing that is a drawback and the reason I had to knock off a star. When I got the backpack I was headed on a hiking trip with my family. I decided to use this hydration pack only (not the backpack) inside our Deuter child carrier hiking backpack. As we hiked my two year old on my back shared the water reservoir with me. He bit the mouthpiece completely off!! My little kids have done that with many a CamelBak mouthpiece, so I wasn’t too concerned. Until I later realized that I cannot find a replacement piece that fits since the valve is larger than most. And the company website has no replacement parts and no contact info to find out how to get one. I realize it is a new company and the website is a “soft launch,” but there is absolutely no way to get in touch with them, and I can’t find a replacement mouthpiece by other distributors. I feel like this is a huge oversight as the valve is basically useless without the mouthpiece and it leaks everywhere and is very difficult to drink from while running. I’m super frustrated about this as I was hoping to use it for a half marathon this weekend.
So as long as you never ruin the mouthpiece, you’ll be fine! Otherwise, wait until the company establishes itself a little better.
***The company got in touch with me and sent replacement valves. Their customer service was great! Many many thanks. I really do love this backpack.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 12, 2017I've needed one of these bags for a while and ended up chosing this one because it was cheaper than other brands. It arrived relatively quickly (10 days) and the design was nice and the material felt durable. I'm from Florida but I took it snowboarding in Coloradoa few days after I got it. It was my first time snowboarding so I was falling a lot and sometimes I would land on my back. I was kind of nervous that the blatter would pop or sustain some sort of damage but it held together well the whole trip. I've taken it fishing and kayaking as well and it fits a surprising amount of stuff even with the blatter filled. Altogether I'd say the bag is great for its price and very durable.
- Reviewed in the United States on July 20, 2023Final, FINAL update: After I posted the “final update” below, they sent me a new replacement pack. I’ve settled on 4 stars because even if the zipper problem was an anomaly, the customer service should not have been such an ordeal.
**Final Update: Their customer service offered to replace the item if I paid $12 in shipping. (Or I could upgrade to their next level product for $20.)
I told their rep that I won’t spend one more penny on a product I *already* paid for when the problem is so obviously a product failure. They had the opportunity to make things right with me, and over $12, they chose not to.
And that’s where they left it. So…this is how I leave my review.

Broken seam leads to broken zipper.
This happened on my 10th use. Sewing came undone and zipper slid right off.
Tried calling the supplier number on my Amazon order “details” and it’s for a different company. Bummer. I liked the pack until this happened.
***pending — WB reached out right away and I find that impressive. I don’t know what the resolution will be but I’ll update then.

- Reviewed in the United States on August 24, 2020I love this! So many pockets. It’s been on multiple hikes with me and has not let me down. It even has enough room to carry a light long sleeve, sunscreen and a snack with it full of water And then it has the strap pockets that are perfect for glasses and my phone. The only downfall is the design of the bag. The pouch has to be completely drained to prevent mold and bacteria build up but the only way I can allow that is if I stick it upside on a ladle or something and let it sit for a day or two.
- Reviewed in the United States on July 13, 2018Fits 2 L of water, mtn inner tube, light gloves, light jacket, skull cap, micro pump, C02 x2, tire levers x 2, patches/scabs, tool. Also could fit gels/bars, keys/phone with the space leftover. The material is light, probably won't last and looks like it might tear on sharp plants/rocks/trees. Fit is adjustable. I like the front pockets for gels/map. Iphone 5C won't fit in the front chest strap pockets. 6 lbs fully loaded without gels/clif bars. It'll be mtn tested x 3-400 miles this summer, so we'll see about durability.
Update: Durability is fine. Took it on the Leadville 100 and a few other long distance mountain biking events and it works great. 5 stars.
