Banks' debut is a contender for best sentimental love story, with honorable mention for a first-class ticket ride with the characters on their journey. Wilmington is the North Carolina city where Sarah Avery has gone to mend her broken life after losing her husband, Thomas, in a horrific drowning incident in Mexico. Sarah's attempts to live a normal life come to a shattering end when she meets Collin, who is her dead husband's exact look-alike. Fireworks ensue between these two and you can't help but root for Collin and Sarah's relationship, even though she is still too caught up in grief to realize the love in front of her. Their love affair is a sweeping romance until Sarah discovers some secrets that stops her in her tracks. Suffice to say that there was a lot of adrenaline and tears on the path to discovery. I developed a crick in my neck because I couldn't put it down until it was finished. A little ibuprofen and a well thought out ending made it all worthwhile. -Beta Club
Rarely does a new author completely capture me with their writing, but Natalie Banks not only managed to capture me from page one, but held on without mercy until the very end. Her writing depth was only outweighed by her characterization of emotion. The novel ended with a bang, which is another feat that new authors are rarely able to do well. In fact, I was so entrenched in Sarah and Collin's love affair, I couldn't put it down until I finished it, with my box of tissues in hand. I see a lot of books in my field, but I will say this is a top contender for one of my favorites by a new author. -Champion Books

The Water is Wide is very dear to my heart. It is the kind of story that only comes around once in a lifetime. An epic romance beyond measure. A treasured love story that will stick with you forever. It can only be compared to the great love story couples like Noah and Allie, Claire and Henry, and Rose and Jack. And now I give you Sarah and Collin.
