The Neti Pulsator is the first battery-powered hand held sinus rinse product that puts an innovative twist on a centuries-old therapeutic treatment. Doctors recommend using a sinus rinse to cleanse and help prevent the buildup of allergens and bacteria and to promote better health. The easy-to-use, battery-powered Neti Pulsator does all the work for you with an easy squeeze of the trigger, and it’s safe for everyday use for ages six and up. Use the Neti Pulsator by Waterpik SinuSense to help reduce cold and flu symptoms and the risk of sinus infection.

What’s in the Box

Your Neti Pulsator includes 3 AA batteries, 15 Soothing Saline Easy-Pour packs with Aloe Vera and Eucalyptus extract, 2 SoftSeal nozzles for maximum comfort, a quick-start guide and instruction manual, and of course, the Neti Pulsator!

Easy to Use, Easy to Clean

We recommend using luke warm distilled water or cool, previously boiled water in your Neti Pulsator. With the new and improved reservoir, simply open the reservoir door and add 8 ounces of water and 1 Soothing Saline Easy-Pour pack, assemble the SoftSeal nozzle, and shake gently to mix the solution. Lean over a sink or use in the shower, and then pull the FlowControl trigger to perform a gentle sinus rinse. After use you may wash the reservoir and SoftSeal nozzle with soap and water. The reservoir is also dishwasher safe.

The Benefits of Sinus Rinse

Many people have found that using a sinus rinse can provide a variety of health benefits, such as:

  • Improving overall health
  • Helping prevent a cold or sinus infection
  • Helping reduce allergy symptoms
  • Reducing nasal irritation from dust, fumes, animal dander, grass, pollen, and smoke
  • Reducing pain from chronic sinusitis

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, nearly 31 million Americans suffer from sinusitis (inflammation of the sinuses that occurs with viral, bacterial, or fungal infection). Sinus rinsing also helps reduce the symptoms, frequency, and intensity of allergy attacks. This method is safe and affordable, and it provides a natural experience.

I purchased the Sinusense locally before I read the reviews, and before I found the $10 coupon (Grrrr!). As other reviewers have stated, water does get into the battery compartment. This happened after only two uses. But, because I had convinced my wife to use it to relieve her severe stuffy nose (she refuses to use nose spray) I felt compelled to find a solution to the battery compartment leakage. Vaseline petroleum jelly to the rescue!

Open the battery compartment. If you have used it, and water seeped in, wipe the battery compartment and batteries dry and allow it to air dry for a couple of hours. Simply smear a small amount of petroleum jelly along the edge of the raised area of the compartment that has the small rubber gasket, and along both surfaces where the battery cover comes into contact with the main housing of the pump. Re-insert the batteries and replace the battery compartment cover by tightening the screw. This small amount of pet jelly will form a perfect seal, preventing water from entering the battery compartment.

My wife and I use the SinuSense twice a day (separate nozzle covers of course!), and there is no water in the battery compartment.

After my wife learned to hold her breath and keep her mouth closed, she no longer swallows any of the rinse. It goes up one nostril, and out the other. Her stuffy nose situation is much relieved. And despite her initial fears, she did not drown. Thirty-three years of marriage and counting. Who knows, we just may still make it to fifty!

On another note, I will be contacting Waterpik regarding this product. Although I was able fix this leaking problem easily with the application of a little petroleum jelly, this situation should never have occurred if they had tested this product before selling it to the public.

I want other prospective buyers to understand that this product HAS been redesigned, and I don't think there should be any lingering issues with the design affecting the batteries. If there turn out to be problems with any part of it, it is clear Waterpik is dedicated to attending to the customer---mine came with a glaring note saying to contact them if there are any problems. They should have realized the design flaw in the original, but they appear to have done their best to make up for it and the new product is really helpful and deserving of a spot in the marketplace.

Having read the reviews here, I hoped and expected that the product had been redesigned, though it seems some recent reviewers still got an old product, which confused things a little. I saw why this might have happened when I visited my local W-mart store: they had three pulsators in boxes marked "new and improved" on the upper left corner, and one all the way on the back of the shelf in a box marked "1st and only" on the upper left. (Unfortunate that they happened to make that boast on a product they then had to redesign!) The "1st and only" pulsator had old expiration dates for its saline packets, and I could see from the photo on the back that its water tank was filled from the top, where the two parts of the pulsator join. Not incidentally, that connection is also where the battery housing cover is. The "new and improved" model has a tank you fill from the side, through a little hatch. The connection to the motorized portion with the batteries is completely closed off from the water supply. I purchased this new and improved model. I have used it six times and haven't yet had any problem.

If you aren't sure which version you have, the second image here shows the new and improved model with the hatch.

By Vivien S. on November 6, 2011
My child just started daycare and a few weeks ago and I have been sick ever since. My congestion started about 10 days ago, then my teeth started hurting- apparently a symptom of a sinus infection. Before starting my antibiotics, I decided to try the waterpik. I haven't been this impressed with a product since bagless vacuum cleaners and the iPhone.

2 days into using it, my toothaches are gone and my sinus congestion is completely gone. During the day the congestion that builds up in my throat/chest I can completely clear out after the rinse. The trick is to blow your nose after each side and blow deep through your throat not just your nose. I too have used manual sinus rinses before to unimpressive results. This literally (and figuratively) blew me away.

After 6 six years and tens of thousands of dollars spent here at amazon, this is my first product review. It is truly that remarkable.

I bought my 5th SinuSence Pulsator in January 2012, as it said on the box, NEW & IMPROVED, indeed! the new version has a partition between the battery compartment and the reservoir, this completely eliminated the problem of water getting into the battery compartment, it is light weight, extremely easy to use comparing to other desk top models, I highly recommend it.

Be sure to get the new & improved version of this product to ensure that it doesn't leak.

I did, and found it helped tremendously with nasal allergies and postnasal drip. I use it twice a day, morning and night. My sense of smell and taste have both improved as a result. Also, I simply feel better in general.

Now for the cautionary note. I don't think the instructions emphasize this enough. Please USE ONLY DISTILLED OR BOILED WATER FOR YOUR OWN SAFETY.

In December 2011, two people in Louisiana died after using tap water in their neti pots. Testing revealed a rare but deadly amoeba that survived in the tap water, even though the water had been treated. The only way to lower your risk to zero is to use distilled water.

Before I heard the story about the "brain eating" amoeba, I used well water in my device. Our well water had not been tested for microorganisms in 10 years, and I did not know WHAT might have been in it.

Now I use distilled water ONLY, and I strongly encourage everyone to do the same.
