Anatomy of a Pelican Micro Case
Ultimate Equipment Protection
For over 30 years Pelican has built a reputation for manufacturing the toughest cases in the world. As a matter of fact, we invented the category. Over these years we've seen our cases used for some fairly crazy activities...and important ones too.
Pelican Micro Cases are created for your smaller items. Micro Cases look and function in the same way as the larger Pelican Cases, but are designed to protect your cell phone, iPod, camera, and other small items. Many of the cases are water resistant and crushproof, or impact resistant to provide maximum protection for your valuables. These cases will get your gear from point A to point B in the condition it's meant to be in: intact and functional.
Stronger by Design
Pelican Cases are made with a proprietary combination of homo and co-polymers, using an open cell core and solid wall construction, which is stronger and lighter than a solid core wall. Stainless steel pins are used in hinges and handles.
The secret is the tongue and groove fit with a polymer O-ring acting as a waterproof seal. Some models come with the Automatic Pressure Equalization Valve which balances interior pressure, keeping water out while making the case easy to open.
Liner for Extra Protection
Your valuables should be protected on the inside as well as the outside. Pelican Micro Cases contain a shock absorbent liner to minimize damage to contents in tough situations.

The outside of the case is a very hard, solid plastic that really is nice. On the inside is a rubber lining to keep whatever you put in the case intact and safe. Items move around very slightly if they're the right size, and sometimes I fear for my audio recorder hitting the non-rubberized side. All seems fine though, if you're not too rough with it.
The clip to close the case is very solid, and you can definitely tell when it's closed. Everything is built very solidly, which I find refreshing, but it's to be expected from Pelican.
The product itself is great, and at a great price for its versatility, as you can really put any electronic in it, with my Tascam recorder being on the bigger side and filling the case entirely.
I have no complaints about the product itself; however, there is one piece of advice that you should take into consideration: It's a little impractical. If you're a filmmaker, you definitely do not want a case this small. You can probably fit one piece of equipment in this case, and it gets annoying to open and close every time you need to unpack. It would just be very irritating to have cases this small lying around. For me it works, since my only pieces of equipment are my camera and the recorder, and I can clip the case right to my (very small) bag. But then again this is a pretty amateurish setup. If you predict that you're going to be expanding your production setup, do not buy this case, plain and simple.
The bottom line is, the ideas behind it are conflicting. Pelican cases are for solid setups where you're packing for a studio or going out in the field where your equipment will be subject to the weather and terrain. At the same time, a case of this size is really for small pieces of equipment (especially for packing light or for filmmakers just starting out) and so this will not last you very long until you can't find a use for it and it just adds extra heft to your setup.
