Product description
10 Liter Jerry Can system includes spout and spout adapter. All of our Wavian Jerry Can systems come with an EPA, DOT, C. A. R. B. approved spout. We have also added an adapter since some gasoline powered vehicles need a smaller spout to fit in the filler. The adapter sits on the spout and needs to be turned clockwise until it snaps into place. The spout needs to be pushed to start the flow. The weight of the gasoline helps to open the spout to facilitate an easy quick pour. All Wavian products have a 2 year warranty against manufacturers defects. Fully paint-coated inside and outside. Have a full, internal breather pipe for splash-proof pouring. The highest quality Jerry can out there. Original Mil Spec. DOT, EPA and CARB approved. Comes with a safety spout attached and also has an adapter for vehicles with smaller filler receivers. Manufactured from 0. 9mm Cold Rolled Steel ( DC 04 EN 10130). Dual pan construction. Unique wide channel breather for better smoother pouring. Seam welded for extra strength. Three Handle Configuration. Leak-proof Bayonet Closure. Locking pin in cap. Strengthened hinge on cap to prevent accidental bending when closing. Cap designed to hold open when discharging the can. Lined inside with fuel resistant Rezol enamel to prevent rusting. Painted exterior epoxy polyester powder coat. Manufactured and tested to comply with the following standards: DOT, EPA , C. A. R. B. , DIN 7274 and BAM - GGR001. Australian Standard - AS 2906. German Standard-TUV/GS. Swedish Standard-SP. UN-Dangerous goods approval.

Having used larger Wavian cans before, I was willing to give this a shot as an alternative, and actually keep it filled with gasoline (and PRI-G as a stabilizer) in the toolbox of my truck. Despite being in fair levels of heat, there has never been a hint of odor coming out of the can or in my toolbox, which means that the more volatile components are properly sealed inside and no fumes or liquid leaks.
I actually used this can at one point to deal with someone asking for "money for gas" in a parking lot. I happened to have enough spare fuel on hand to be able for the guy to drive his family home, and I didn't have to take out my wallet or deal with any of the potential risk associated with that.
I will recommend four things:
1) Before you put a drop of gasoline in this, familiarize yourself with the latching mechanism, mount the nozzle and adapter, and get a sense for how they work. It's waaaaay easier to do that when the can is empty than when it's full.
2) If you're planning on carrying this around a lot or keeping it in a vehicle, consider zip ties or some other means of securing the adapter and nozzle to the can so they don't get separated. There's a mount for the nozzle, but zip ties will keep it from getting knocked off and also allow you to secure the adapter.
3) A funnel is a good companion to this. The nozzle and adapter are decent, but the last ~5% of the fuel in the can is hard to get out with the nozzle attached because of the shape of jerry cans.
4) IF YOU HAVE A PROBLEM WITH A WAVIAN ITEM ORDERED ON AMAZON, CONTACT WAVIAN DIRECTLY. The company actually has fantastic customer support, and I've been very pleased with them. It's better for them, you, and Amazon if your issue warrants anything other than a straight return.
As Army Airborne Ranger we tested these small metal cans in the desert during Spec Ops. I now trust them to hang on my Jeep in SW Florida sun.
BTW, filter fuel from cans for the initial fill/pour to ensure no flakes of paint/sealer from the interior.

Next, I moved my attention over to the included pouring spout, securely attached to the top of the fuel can with a broken zip tie. Since the zip tie was severed at the location of the ratcheting section of the zip tie, I thought perhaps the pouring spout broke loose during shipping when one of the other dents was created on the shipping box. Again, a minor inconvenience I can live with.
Finally, when testing the fitment of the included pouring spout, a major problem presented itself: The spout could not be securely attached to the opening of the can. The locking mechanism (Wavian refers to as a "bayonet clip") could not be pushed into place. Both the Amazon product image and instructional video on Wavian's YouTube channel show the bayonet clip expending through the holes on either side of the fuel can opening when the pouring spout is squarely secured to the can. However, despite my best efforts, I could not replicate the same results; the bayonet clip would only go it part ways before stopping. As I applied more force to the bayonet clip, I began to hear the metal deforming and creaking under my weight. I decided that was enough; this included pouring spout does not fit the fuel can.
Also, for whatever reason, there was an excessive amount of grease around the fuel cap gasket.

That said, the best of products are only good when packed properly and boxed for home delivery, the can was cared for with concern and I was surprised that it could have shipped glass in the box, Excellent job on all accounts. I'll certainly buy from these folks again.
