This is a really good autobiography of/by Dr. Edger Mitchell, an astronaut who underwent dramatic spiritual and personal changes as a result of his trips to the moon on Apollo 10 and 16. In the early years of his life, he would have been labeled a Newtonian determinists, but as a result of his transcendental visions since landing on the moon, he transformed into a realist/spiritualist. He was shaken to the core. Dr. Mitchell became engulfed by a profound over-whelming mystical revelation that his presence was part of a vast interconnected wholeness of everything that is; everything is interconnected to everything else in some way. He also felt that the universe was strangely, conscious.
His transformation opened an entirely different perspective in viewing the sub-atomic world, the universe at large, and their interconnectedness with growing human consciousness. The story is quite moving. Dr. Mitchell later became the founder of the Institute of Noetic Science, a testimonial to his psychological transformation.
This is an excellent book to read either before or after reading the newly released book entitled, "Beyond UFO's, Volume 1, 2018 published under the auspices of the organization, " Foundation For Research into Extraterrestrial and Extraordinary Experiences (FREE"). Dr. Mitchell is one of four co-founders of FREE and has made many academic contributions to the subject of consciousness and its connection to the universe. The Way of the Explorer provides the philosophical framework and theoretical underpinnings for BEYOND UFO's.
This is a good read about a man who was compelled-DRIVEN-to shift his entire mental paradigm as a consequence a paranormal earth-shaking experience; classic epiphany. It is also a leading document to what appears to be a new effort or movement to view the ufo and related phenomenon in a comprehensive SCIENTIFIC way.
