Although the Ryan Doherty mystery series books don't have to be read in order, I recommend it for story continuity and maximum entertainment value.

From the Back Cover
Way to Go is the second in a series of mysteries with a metaphysical twist. The series features the cocky homicide detective Ryan Doherty as he solves high profile murders as well as navigating his budding relationship with psychic empath, Catharine Lulling. After the loss of his partner and best friend Jon Lange, Ryan receives messages and advice from Jon on the "other side."
Part police procedural, part fantasy, this series is heralded as "Books you can't put down."
"An engaging whodunit...clever and fast-paced, this cocktail goes down smooth with a nice finish." --Kirkus Reviews on Town Red

Moss surrounds the reader in her world with fully developed characters and natural dialogue. The real life situations that her characters find themselves in allow the reader to fully engage and attach to them. Detective Ryan Doherty is a lovable nice guy whose relationship with Catharine is charming and romantic. I can’t wait to see more of this series. I highly recommend it!
Most of the characters were fleshed out well, with the exception of the twins.
Adding to his stomach churning is the new development that the twelve year old daughter of the victim later turns up missing, causing him to seek Catherine’s help finding the child.
Just when the investigation is about to turn intense, a third party enters the hunt, complicating matters. The FBI.
What a thrill ride this was as page after page was filled with Ryan’s guilt of not reacting to Jessica’s threat letters, of the missing child, and of the FBI’s treatment of Catherine. This is a heart breaking, heart wrenching, heart tugging novel. Fasten your seat belts.
The Doherty collection consists of four novels at the time of this post: 1.”Town Red”. 2. “Way To Go”. 3. “Taking the Rap”. 4. “Friend of the Family”. They are all stand alone novels, but I would suggest sequential reading for maximum satisfaction. I can only hope there’s more to come.
