About the Author
USA Today bestselling author Annette Dashofy has spent her entire life in rural Pennsylvania surrounded by cattle and horses. When she wasn’t roaming the family’s farm or playing in the barn, she could be found reading or writing. After high school, she spent five years as an EMT on the local ambulance service, dealing with everything from drunks passing out on the sidewalk to mangled bodies in car accidents. These days, she, her husband, and their spoiled cat, Kensi, live on property that was once part of her grandfather’s dairy. Her Agatha-nominated Zoe Chambers mystery series includes Circle of Influence (also nominated for the David Award for Best Mystery of 2014), Lost Legacy, Bridges Burned and With A Vengeance.

There are characters, bits of knowledge, and attitudes that carry over, but beyond those the only thing that does not come as a surprise is the outstanding quality of Ms. Dashofy’s writing. If you are new to the series, you will be able to track the story with no problem although previous books build a background of the characters that new fans will discover full blown in this one. Most of those details will not detract from your reading pleasure when you go back to catch up, as you are sure to do.
Contemporary cozy mysteries or lighter mysteries like this one bring the reader the comforts of a cozy: strong characters to love, sweet romance, great relationships, and humor but to that is added a few twists. The depth of the relationships seem stronger, life is easy for the heroine, the readers emotions may be touched more deeply. Make no mistake, these stores are real mysteries and the characters have to be intelligent to survive the dangers. The plot is thoughfully laid out and the characters are draw with smooth details that are built into the story.
Zoe finds the body of a friend that turns out to be murder, but there are questions about several facets of the death that don’t make sense even for a murder. She is excited to be able to us her position as deputy chief coroner to participate in the investigation. That excitement is soon quashed when the danger of someone close to her pulls her across the country and into a world that is alien and where she feels helpless. Not a feeling she is used to nor one that she likes. I am already looking forward the the next book in the Zoe Chambers Mysteries series! Oh what an adventure Zoe and her followers have in store for them. It is a great book with fast paced action and danger that almost too my breath away at time.
I requested and received an advanced readers copy of this book via NetGalley. But I loved it so much I pre -ordered a personal copy. The review is completely voluntary. I always review books that I love and I absolutely loved No Way Home!
Dashofy did her homework to write the NM subplot. She created a secondary character that I hope we see more of. "Ponyboy" is true hero material. I also loved that both plots intersected, and Zoe is just plain smart when it comes to defending herself and the ones she loves. Just when you think you can take a breath, she throws in another problem for her characters to handle. I've seen other reviewers call this cozy. I disagree. It's a solid mystery and police procedural and I look forward to many more from this author.
I loved No Way Home. This fast-paced read is exciting and kept me on the edge of my seat. The action alternated between NM and PA, and each time, the transition was seamless. The twists and turns kept me guessing, and I found it extremely difficult to put the book down. Zoe is such an engaging character. She is strong, tough, smart, and independent, and she is a great lead. Her relationship with Pete is moving along (slowly! LOL), and they make a great couple. I’m so glad County Detective Wayne Baronick is back. He may be young, cocky, and arrogant, but he always has Pete’s back.
I know this book just came out, but I’m already looking forward to #6. This is a wonderful series, and I definitely recommend it. Each book can stand alone, but do yourself a favor and read them all. Happy reading!
