About the Author

Jane Hall Fitz-Gibbonis bishop-abbess of the Lindisfarne Community. She has a Masters degree intheology, and is completing a PhD in interdisciplinary studies at TrinityTheological Seminary, Newburgh, Indiana. She was trained as a dental therapistand worked for many years in that profession in the United Kingdom. She isco-author with Andrew Fitz-Gibbon of six books. Currently she works in crisissupport at TST BOCES, and is actively involved with the local Department ofSocial Services, periodically teaching courses in foster care and adoption, andchild sexual abuse. At the time of writing, she is a Visiting Scholar with theResearch Foundation of SUNY, Center for Development of Human Services, BuffaloState College, doing research and writing in foster care and nonviolence.
 
Andrew Fitz-Gibbon, is Associate Professor of Philosophy, Chair of the Philosophy Department, and Director of the Center for Ethics, Peace and Social Justice, at the State University of New York College at Cortland. He earned his PhD from Newcastle, United Kingdom. He is bishop-abbot of the Lindisfarne Community, and was an accredited minister with the Baptist Union of Great Britain and Ireland, serving from 1981-1999. His academic interests are in the areas of ethics, nonviolence, love, mysticism and community. He is the author, co-author, or editor of nine books, numerous book chapters, and articles in peer-reviewed journals such as Social Philosophy Today, The Journal for Peace and Justice Studies, The Acorn, and Philosophical Practice. Currently, he is the President of Concerned Philosophers for Peace. He is an Associate Editor, VIBS, Editions Rodopi, B.V., where he edits the Social Philosophy Series. He is a fellow of the American Philosophical Practitioners Association, certified in client counseling.
