From the Back Cover

Do you shy away from sharing the true gospel message with others, unsure of what to say, afraid of rejection and ridicule?

That's not what Jesus did.

Jesus was not afraid to shake people up. He spoke openly of their sinful nature and the righteousness of God. He forced people to confront their sin head-on, and he brought them face-to-face with their need for salvation.

"The Way of the Master will teach you how to share the message of the gospel simply, biblically, and without fear--the way Jesus did! You will become equipped to confidently lead anyone--friend, family member, coworker, neighbor, or stranger on the street--to a clear understanding of repentance and what it means to be a true and active follower of Jesus Christ.

About the Author

Kirk Cameron is best known as the lovable teen heartthrob Mike Seaver of the award–winning television series Growing Pains. He entertained audiences worldwide as the charming troublemaker. He is also known to every Christian as Buck Williams from Left Behind: The Movie—based on the NY Times runaway best–selling novels by Tim LaHaye and Jerry Jenkins. But much more noteworthy than his acting career was his conversion to Christianity. Kirk was not raised in a church–going home and describes himself as a staunch atheist from a very young age. By the age of eight, he was so convinced there was no God that he laughed at those who thought there was. But that all changed one afternoon as he sat in his sports car pondering the first gospel message he had ever heard. Since becoming a Christian, Kirk has been a dedicated follower of Christ, making the most of every opportunity to further the Gospel. He has preached in churches and at community events across the country. Kirk has teamed up in ministry with Ray Comfort through Living Waters, an evangelism outreach that equips Christians who want to evangelize by training them how to witness as Jesus did. This dynamic duo have co–authored the new Whitaker House release, The World's Greatest Preachers, which focuses on the best evangelical gospel messages ever delivered in history and on the men who preached the Good News of salvation through Jesus Christ. Kirk and his wife, Chelsea, have six children and live in southern California. Ray Comfort, a native New Zealander, began his ministry with a burden for his lost friends. After attending the funeral of a fifth friend who had died from a drug overdose, Ray published an eight page pamphlet called My Friends Are Dying. The pamphlet was later expanded to a paperback book, and Ray began sharing with youth about the ultimate answer to the drug problem–Jesus Christ. Ray has since written more than 35 books and spoken at almost 700 churches. His ministry has included pastoring a church, hosting a Christian radio program, writing a newspaper column called Words of Comfort, and serving as a regular platform speaker at Southern Baptist State Conferences. Ray lives in Bellflower, California, with his wife, Sue, and their three children.

This book was a little bit of a challenge to get through...not because it was hard to read (it is very straightforward), but because it convicted me of my failure to tell people the whole counsel of God and also of my lack of love for others (in that I haven't been sharing the Way with others a whole lot lately.). Read this only if you want your hardened heart broken and hurting for the lost. Buy this book.

Wow! Like shining a light in dark place. This book is so wonderful in illuminating the Gospel that it should be required reading for all believers, whether new to the faith or well seasoned. Understanding correcly the use and purpose of the Law in God's plan is so fundamental to understanding the entire Bible and ALL other doctrines of faith. The Law is a revelation of the character of a holy and just God. Any person unable to see themselves in truth as God sees them, as a sinner in desperate need of a Savior, is unable to truly repent and believe the Gospel, as we are commanded to. Instead, they remain deluded by pride and self righteousness, and remain, perhaps for decades, in a state of false conversion. Without conviction by the Law, the doctrine of grace and mercy has no real impact on a sinner. The cross makes no sense to him. What a tragedy. While this book is focused on using the Law as the means to evangelize, it is very effective in conveying theological doctrine as well. If the believer gets a handle on this theme, they will clarify their understanding in such a fundamental way as to be changed for good. Repentance will come, rebirth and true conversion will result; and the herd heading for hell, whether churched or not, will be culled. Get your doctrine fundamentally right so you can be used by Him to reach a lost and dying world.

This book had a very interesting approach. The main thrust of the authors was that every believer ought to be actively involved in witnessing to others through the testimony of the Law. This is the method employed by Jesus and the early believers. This is the way endorses and exemplified by the apostle Paul in the book of Romans. This is the only way.

The authors encourage a variety of ways to use the Law as the tool for evangelism. It is appropriate in street preaching, university debates, on the golf course, at funerals, and everywhere in between. This method is to be employed on children, teens, adults and grandparents. One can address the issue with neighbors, friends, a spouse or complete strangers. It is the way.

The "shock and awe" style of laying down the law is said to minimize false converts by truly explaining the gravity of sin as revealed in the 10 Commandments. Without these divinely given standards we would know nothing of our sinfulness, therefore they must be utilized or the chances of a surface conversion skyrocket.

The authors believe that evangelism is the main goal of the local church and must be the main goal of the individual believer. Many believers in today's churches need to "catch on fire" and get out to confront people in their sin. If they do not do this they are considered "lukewarm" Christians as found in Revelations.

The authors do a good job at explaining how one may use the Law in order to show others their sinfulness. Truly the law is our schoolmaster - the one who reveals to us our impending punishment from a holy God. One may use the Law by showing how we all have broken it, and therefore will one day stand before God to be condemned. It is a very effective way to show man's inability to "be good enough.

I have over 1000 books on evangelism and revival in my personal library, and this is the clearest, most biblical and best presentation of the "how to" and principles of witnessing and evangelism, in print. Ray Comfort not only writes about evangelism - he lives it. I like books by people who actually practice what they preach - and Ray does. The recovered Biblical key of using the law of God (the 10 commandments) in evangelsim really works. I have personally used this principle as a pastor while witnessing in the Deep Ellum area of Dallas. Once 2 girls were weeping so profusely from conviction of sin, that they had to hold on to a parking meter to keep from falling down. Read this book and practice it. I witnessed to a flight attendant on a flight to LA - and she told me that Kirk Cameron had talked to her about her soul, and had given her some "religious pamphlets" (her words) on a flight a week earlier. It seems he also practices what he preaches. Jesus commanded all believers to be a witness - and Ray and Kirk not only tell us how, they also live it.

The Way of the Master by Ray Comfort focuses on what he believes is "an almost forgotten biblical key that has the power to unlock the door of the human heart." This "key" which Comfort is referring to is the Ten Commandments and its power to speak directly to ones "conscience (the place of the knowledge of right and wrong) - the way Jesus did." Comfort is the founder of The Way of the Master and Living Water Ministries, which include several publications for helping understand and carry out evangelism, a radio show, TV show and several short films in which he and his ministry partner, Kirk Cameron, are involved. This particular book is currently on the Amazon Bestseller list.

My familiarity with Ray Comfort and The Way of the Master Ministries began about five years ago when my wife bought The Evidence Bible, another publication of this ministry designed to show the evidence of God and His creation. However, this book, The Way of the Master, is designed to show Christians the importance of evangelism and how the Ten Commandments are a key aspect of pointing the lost to understanding their true selves in order to reach them with the gospel. Several of the teachings found with this work can are also based on his sermon Hells Best Kept Secret, where Comfort points out the art of using God's Law in an effort to convict the sinner and bringing one to a true repentance and faith in Him.

In an effort to bring about a better understand of evangelism and to show the importance of how effective using the Ten Commandments is in evangelism. Comfort suggest the reader to reconsider the catch phrase "What would Jesus Do." He says, "The better question to ask is, `What did Jesus do?' This confines our answers to the safe and reliable boundaries of the Bible...
