Each and every battle Parker Sinclair came up against she buckled down and did what she needed to do. What Parker Sinclair did throughout the entire book was just continue on. As most stubborn and strong women in real life struggle to ask for help, so did Parker. And it made Parker relatable. Nothing in this book was over the top glamorous. The hero, Collin Hudson, was charming and supportive, even is his most "just let me fix it" man attitude. Slowly, the romance, started and grew at a normal pace between the drama. It gave everyone something to look forward to and smile. However, the truly magical relationship was between the Sinclair family siblings.
This book, while a work of fiction, was like checking in with a neighbor who has been through some tough times. Each character you want to get to know and offer to help. While the story concludes, it doesn't end with a happily ever after. It ends with a happily ever beginning, and I cannot wait to see where this series goes.
I always get excited when I hear Catherine Bybee has a new book/series. The first in the Creek Canyon series was worth the wait!
Due to her parents untimely death, Parker Sinclair was thrust into the role of caregiver for her younger siblings. She's also been managing the family home and land. Things get worse when a wildfire sweeps through the land. It causes major damage brings along the threat of possible destruction from mudslides and floods.
Enter Colin Hudson. He's the guy every girl dreams of: hardworking, caring, and of course handsome. He along with his crew have been assigned to work on the project to try save the Sinclair land as well as their neighbors.
It's clear early on that these two are perfect for his other but will the stress of their situation pull them apart or have them growing closer?
While Colin and Parker were terrific main characters, the supporting cast was just was great. I can't wait to see what's in store with them through this series!
Parker is raising her two younger siblings after her parents die tragically. After they barely survive the wild fires and are now dealing the flooding in the Canyon, she meets Colin, who works for the public works department to protect Parker's property. As they work together to save the property, their hearts open up to each other too.
Loved Parker, a very strong female figure but also a control freak. Loved Colin, who not give up on Parker. Everyone needs Colin's mom!! I can't wait to learn more about Erin, she has so many secrets. I highly recommend this book.
The first book in the Canyon Creek series, My Way to You, is the fictionalized tale of the events the author went through after her home was almost destroyed by fire and then by flood! It's just so good!
Weaving many different 'acts of God', the fire and the terror Parker felt thinking she lost the only home she'd ever known, the flood after the fire that again almost took out her home, her parent's deaths in an accident a few year earlier, there is so much bad happening, she has little room for anything good.
Meeting the public works supervisor, Colin, and finding out there are people who can help keep her home safe for her younger siblings helps, but Parker is really an independent woman. Accepting help doesn't come easy for her.
As her small sphere of 'family' expands to include Colin's family, Erin, the woman who rents her guest house, and even the men working on the project, she comes to understand that taking help that's given freely does not make you dependent on those people, they just want to help lighten your burden.
Great read! I can't wait for the second book in the series.

Wow what you all went through I’m glad you all came through it in one peace.
Now this was such and emotional read because watching the videos of what went on at this time but also the emotion in Parker and her iron of steel will to always go forward for also being the backbone of her family all the while holding on sometimes by a thread, the relationship between Parker and Colin is undoubtedly beautiful and the love that lasts forever I hope. Can’t wait to read more from this series.
