I debated between 4 and 5 stars...In the end, 4 won.
Latch: When we received this, the latch that holds the table closed was broken. I didn't feel like repackaging the product and shipping it back to Amazon, especially since there seemed to be a great chance a replacement would also be broken. The latch was incredibly poor quality and C.H.E.A.P. I went to Lowe's, and for a few dollars got a MUCH higher quality swing latch (a bit different style but still worked perfectly).
Installation: Installation was a BEAR. Ugh...my husband and I installed this and it is incredibly heavy...so we definitely wanted to have it in a stud. We ended up having success - finally - but the included template wasn't too much help. After awhile we just used a level and made due without the template.
Chalkboard: The chalkboard is a little weird...it seems a little slick and hard to write on. I don't know if that will improve over time and writing?? For now, you just have to press a little harder with the chalk.
If you've made it this far in my review, you are probably wondering (with all the complaints) why I gave it 4 stars and even contemplated on 5!! BUT this desk is absolutely perfect for a small space and my daughter LOVES the cubbys and storage! The price was great - other similar desks I looked at were much more costly. I posted pictures on Facebook and several of my friends wanted to know where to purchase it...it really looks great!!

Unit is nice enough for the price. Followed instructions *to the letter* and wound up with a desk that is FAR from level.

You want to have a total of 3 people putting this thing up: 2 to hold the unit against the wall while you unfold it, take out your level and direct the other 2 to raise/lower the unit to get a level surface on the desk. THEN mark the drill holes for the top of the unit and go on from there.

As others have mentioned, you'd be wise to replace the latch with something more substantive and maybe even get better L brackets for the bottom. I also used my own (more substantial) anchors in the wall. Some screws on the back of the unit that hold internal shelves in place were stripped or not completely secured.

All in all, I'd only recommend if you've got the help and wherewithal to DIY it and make it better than it arrives, and the ability to take the recommendation above over step 1 in the included instructions.

I purchased this wall mounted, fold up desk for a small home office primarily because it could be closed up so that the room could be used in other ways. When I saw in its advertisement that a suggested use was as a craft table I prepared myself to receive an insubstantial product. However, since installing it I am so impressed that I am seriously considering purchasing one for a permanent office and two of my installation helpers are planning to buy one, too! Even if you never planned to fold it up, it is a wonderful desk. Be forewarned, this item is heavy. It took four of us to install it, as the installation directions say. It comes completely assembled which is why it is heavy. If you unscrewed the folding table top and leg section and detached it from the wall mounted section then it would be much lighter and manageable, though I don't know how well it could be reattached. That said, I am not complaining about the weight because it is sturdy! I appreciated that two of the shelves are moveable can be placed at a preferred height. It has enough interior storage for plenty of office supplies, files, and odds and ends and the top of the wall mounted section is deep enough to provide additional shelf space. I am delighted with this purchase and highly recommend the product.

I order a ton of stuff on Amazon and this is the FIRST item I have ever given three stars to.

The main reason is that the unit is made of MDF - medium density FIBERBOARD. Not good as three screws in one of the hinges came out. Fiberboard does not allow the tiny screws to "grab" and hold on to the different pieces. I ended up taking off all the screws and applying a coat of Liquid Nails, hoping that would help the bond. Also, when I opened the box, a piece of the lower frame under the magnetic latch chipped off. It's a piece 1/2 inch front-to-back by two inches across and because it is on the bottom of the shelf, I didn't bother to repair it.

I did keep it, but only because I mounted it inside my wall sitting on a 2x4 (I didn't think the two screws it came with would be adequate to hold the entire unit up). In light of the fact that I didn't return it, I couldn't give it less than three stars.

Buyer beware. This can be challenging if you think you're gonna just pop it out of the box and attach it to your wall. You may need to improvise a bit.

I loved the idea of hide away spaces. This desk came ready to hang, as many reviews stated i changed the screws and hinges because what they send is a joke! Desk is sturdy and heavy to properly secure it, it needs better materials than what they send. company definitely wants to save money there but its causing then to get lower reviews. I fortunately had the materials needed for the adjustment so my desk was up quick. I love the many possibilities i can use it for. I currently use it as a changing table and a study desk for my toddler.

Fyi ( the chalk bored isnt ready to use out box to set it you must cover it entirely of chalk let set for 2 hrs (or 24hrs if patient clean and repeat after this it will be ready to use with any chalk )

I was so excited to get this for a craft/wine table in my kitchen, but as I started to put it together everything started to fall apart... The lock/clasp broke before I even got it out of the package (not sure it would have even kept the table part latched - big risk of randomly falling open!), so I had to purchase a different one from Ace. Once I got it on and the rest of everything together I realized the pressboard had already started to pull apart in areas (especially around that darn latch!). I haven't even gotten it up on the wall yet but I'm worried that it won't hold up to multiple opening and closing. Giving it 3 stars because it is cute and usable, but I'll have to build some kind of frame around it to help hold it up.
