Great way to turn an empty room into a workout gym.
My ex wife took all the furniture from the living room when she left, so I just bought the flooring and turned it into a private gym. Life is good!

These mats fit together easily and make a nice large surface. The price is definitely better than anything I saw in my local stores. However, these mats don't work so well as an exercise surface. I am doing P90X and was looking for a mat that would give me nice support and stable base, but this mat travels across my floor constantly, so I have to stop to move it back into place. In a 60 minute workout, I need to stop 5-10 times to re-adjust the mat. It also is a bit slippery for doing push ups. My feet are sliding quite a bit.

This mat would work well for a baby's room or living area with a hard floor looking to protect a young one, but not so much as an exercise mat.

These mats are pretty slippery. They also bunch up and slide all over the room. I am using them for P90X and I guess I wouldn't recommend them for any kind of cardio exercises. Ok if you are using them for protection and stretching only.

These mats look great! I use them for my mini home gym which has a bench, an elliptical, and a set of interchangeable dumbbells. Unfortunately heavy stuff will indent the mats and it seems to be permanently, but not really sure. If you have a dog, try to keep them away. My golden retriever thought it was ok to go digging for a bone on these and has left scratch marks all over. But other than this these look good and seem like they'll last.

I bought these mats to put in the basement so the wife could do Yoga in peace. After laying them down, we like the look and decided to extend the area for a weight bench and a heavy bag. After realizing shipping is about ten bucks per pound (12 tiles do not weigh 10 pounds despite what the vendor says) and knowing that I need another 30+ tiles, there is no way I can justify paying so much for shipping. Shipping for 30 tiles is exactly what I paid for shipping the 100lb heavy bag!

No, this time I'm going with a local competitor. The price is the same (when you include shipping) and I'd rather support local business.

Pros:
1. Relatively inexpensive although the shipping cost was pretty outrageous.
2. Easy to put together.
3. Did not smell.
4. Should work fine for stationary bikes, ellipticals, home gym, etc.

Cons:
1. As noted before, some variance in color from tile to tile. Its noticeable.
2. May just have been my order, but the combination of tiles and edges provided do not allow for a 100% closed edge all around. One corner will look odd as its not completely "closed" with the opposing corner.
3. Slippery - it may be asking too much at this price point for a non-slip bottom surface, but it should be noted and repeated that these pads would not be suitable for any sort of exercise where the user is moving around often and vigorously.

I purchased these to go between my hardwood floor and my heavy bag stand. Even after weighing down the stand with 240lbs of weight (plus the bag), the stand was still moving. Then I realized the problem - the mat entire mat would move and bunch up where it hit an obstacle, like my couch or treadmill behind it. The solution is pretty inexpensive, I picked up some of the rug liner with the tacky surface on both sides at Target for about $30 for a larg piece. That seems to have solved it. Just feeling the mat beneath my feet, I can tell that over time it will deform permanently, which is kind of depressing but I suppose I'll just buy new mats at this price.

What do you want out of a gym floor mat? (1) Shock absorption and (2) stability. We bought these mats previously, around 2012, and they worked great. Then we moved. The new home gym is a bit bigger, so I figured I'd pick up another set of floor mats. To make things simple, I bought the same set, but unfortunately, the new set is not identical to the set we bought in 2012. I could tell they were different right away, because they didn't align with our older set. It's not a huge difference, but they're obviously cut slightly smaller. They are also thinner and more rigid (they are also a different color, which I don't care about other than it suggests that they are made of a different material). But the proof is when we use them. If we do any sort of plyometrics on the new mats, (1) we get shin splints, and (2) if we land near a seam, the squares will rip apart. Once my husband went flying into the wall: he was jumping laterally, the square broke off and slid across the room, pulling his feet out from under him. He was actually a bit bruised for the next few days. Since then, I've rearranged them to be under equipment so no one will get hurt.

Bought these same mats a few years ago, and they worked great. Then we moved and needed a bit more coverage in our home gym. So I bought these again, assuming that they would be identical to the previous purchase. They are not. They are thinner, cut slightly differently, and made of a different material that is less robust. Consequently, they don't protect our joints as well, and if we do any sort of plyometrics, they split apart. I've positioned them around the outside of the room so that we're
