-Dr. Eric Swanson, Co-author of "The Externally Focused Church"
Reviewed By K.C. Finn for Readers' Favorite
We Wait You is a true-to-life story by Taryn Hutchison about her (mission) work in the war-torn climate of Europe in 1990. Covering many countries which lived under the stringent Communist control ... the author describes not only her work and the people she tried to help discover God, but also her personal friendships and her own emotional journey as she travelled through such a harsh, demanding environment. So begins a fascinating journey to preach the forbidden topics of democracy and Christianity to a nation that has been denied them.
K.C. Finn - Readers' Favorite:
Hutchison writes with the prose of a great storyteller, removing herself just enough from the narration to let readers take her place in the vivid world she describes. What interested me most was the author's commitment to a full and detailed explanation of the political and social climate that the people ... had to cope with at that period in history. We Wait You is an accomplished work which preaches the important of God, but also highlights the basic human need for faith and love when life is hard.
From the Back Cover
"We wait you. Why did you take so long?"
-Taryn Hutchison was asked this poignant question after her lecture on democracy to a class in Bucharest, Romania. Communism had just fallen.
"We waited 45 years for the Americans to come and set us free. We used to say that even if you were coming in a wheelbarrow, you should be here by now."
-The Americans had come at last, but it was to offer a different kind of freedom-freedom that lasts forever.
Inspiring and with humorous moments, "We Wait You: Waiting on God in Eastern Europe" is an uplifting story of hearts transformed as political systems are rebuilt. Unlike any missionary story you've read before, it is told by a regular person attempting to manage real life--mud and all--in a foreign culture while struggling to wait on God. History will come alive as you journey with Taryn through Romania, Hungary, Albania, and Russia during the decade after the Berlin wall came down. You will learn to trust God to provide everything you need in order to do whatever He calls you to do, wherever that may be.
Questions for reflection or discussion, included after each chapter, will guide you as you consider: Who waits for you?
Now, twenty years after the 1989 revolutions, relive the unforgettable drama of the historic events that changed Eastern Europe-against all hope.

activity of that area after the fall of that Berlin wall and how the new Americans traveling there were perceived.
She made that commitment, and I am so grateful she made it! I benefited greatly from it. I am so grateful she decided to turn her experience from long years in Romania, into the book "We Wait You". When I first got a hold of her book, I started reading on my way to bed. Forty minutes later, I was still standing, reading and reading and crying and laughing at the same time, thinking: "This is so true!!! Oh, I forgot about this! Yeah, that's right, that's how it was!" and so on and so forth!
I lived 22 years of my life under the strong Communism in Romania. I saw the end of it. It was a bitter sweet taste to live with a new freedom and a democracy that nobody could define it without a big dose of subjectivity. Later on, when things started changing dramatically, a friend of mine, who also lived in Romania for many years, asked me: " Dana, did you think how are you going tell your children that you lived in Communism? What are you gone tell them?" It was a difficult question that could not be answered in a few words. Ever since I got a hold of Taryn's book, I feel much better! Now I had an answer to Dave's question! I have a treasure that would help my children have a glimpse of my "former" life, of my childhood, of the country I lived under Communism.
I asked my husband to make me a budget. I sent the book to 21 people, including my mother-in-law, in the State of GA, USA. If someone wants to know, not politics, not how and who manipulated high positioned forces of the government, but how Romanian people are, why they think the way they do, I believe they should read "We Wait You!" Thank you Taryn for your time and effort to write this precious book!
