A Complete Guide to Veteran Hiring for Employers, HR, and Today’s Transitioning Veterans

A quarter of a million service members transition from the military each year to the civilian workforce, and though much has been written, studied, and researched about the challenges of employing veterans, bridging the divide between the “We Will” environment of the military and the “At Will” reality of the private sector can be daunting. With expert recommendations and insights, real-world case studies, and state-of-the-art resources and tools,
From We Will to At Will demystifies the culture and mind-set of today’s veterans, presents the business case for hiring veterans, shows how to manage the hiring process, and provides a clear road-map to navigate the path from veteran-friendly to veteran-ready.

Go Beyond The Taglines - Find Out How To Make Military Veterans Part of Your Organization
The message and the messenger of this book is truly compelling. It's easy to find the tagline "Hire Veterans" across corporate America. The message of "We Will To At Will" is how to follow the best-in-class industry practices to find, grow, enable, and promote military veterans inside corporate America. The messenger, Justin Constantine, is a USMC officer, a wounded Iraq War combat veteran, and inspirational speaker. The combination of Justin's passion & delivery combined with these practical and impactful steps make "We Will To At Will" a must have.

Over the last decade, senior officials have become "Veteran-Friendly" and have staffed up Military Recruiting or Military Affairs leaders. However, this book should be on the desk of every recruiter and hiring manager outside of corporate headquarters. It is a powerful and well-laid-out primer on how to be more sensitive, aware, educated, and action-oriented to hire diverse candidates. This book is not just focused on hiring Veterans, but Military Spouses and Persons with Disabilities, too.
I feel knowledgeable about the topics, but I learned a TON! I'll be sending this book out to some key executives!

Thank you, Justin, for your courage, for sharing your story, and for educating companies on how to take their efforts to the next level.

This book should be in the library of anyone involved in hiring. Lt. Col. Constantine puts forth the passion and the proof to demonstrate how businesses can flourish by establishing and maintaining military hiring programs. As a military spouse, I appreciate that he addressed best practices not only for veterans, but for military family members as well. I highly recommend this valuable educational resource!

Lt. Col. Constantine has provided an in depth and complete look into the challenges Veterans face transitioning to civilian life and how the private sector can support them. As Lt. Col. Constantine shares, Veterans bring valuable insight, experience and knowledge to the civilian world, and as employers we can do much to cultivate their growth and support their contributions.

There are about 10 million veterans in the U.S. labor force and 250,000 service-members transition back to civilian life from the U. S. military every year. Veterans represent the largest pool of screened, trained, skilled, and proven talent in the United States and companies that do not actively seek to hire from that talent pool put themselves at a competitive disadvantage. Justin Constantine provides a comprehensive guide for employers seeking to create a robust and holistic military employment program. He addresses every aspect of the military employee lifecycle, from recruiting to retention, providing the framework, best practices, and resources needed to develop a successful military employment program. There is also valuable transition advice provided for those leaving military service. Hiring veterans is not only patriotic, it’s also a business imperative and Justin provides us a superb guide to leveraging the great skills possessed by our nation’s defenders. From We Will to At Will is a must have reference for your HR and Talent Acquisition teams.

Great job, Justin. Thank you for providing such a great book on how best to not only find great talent (veterans, military spouses and caregivers) --- but also on how to RETAIN them.

If you are a hiring manager, this book is a must-have. Justin’s book shows you a step-by-step process of where to find military talent. It’s the most comprehensive guide and list-of-resources out there. I love it that Justin not only focuses on veteran hiring – but he also provides in-depth stories and resources about how to hire equally important members of the military community: military spouses and caregivers.

Justin also walks through how to create a culture that will embrace and retain members of the military community.
Soup to nuts – this book can help any organization or individual make their company or organization better by providing resources to engage and hire the one-percenters who served the US in our military.

Justin has worked with an impressive group of executives to build a comprehensive resource for recruiters, HR professionals, managers and executives who are interested in veteran recruiting. This book cites many examples and best practices from across industries to provide an effective framework and approach for those looking to successfully recruit and retain veteran and military spouse talent. It’s the best resource I’ve seen at effectively pulling together all the various aspects of the veteran to civilian transition process, and equips companies to bridge that gap successfully. Highly recommend this book! Thank you Justin for your continued service and dedication to our veterans!

Outstanding book by Justin Constantine! This is a comprehensive resource for recruiters, HR professionals, managers and executives who want to better understand veteran and military spouse hiring and retention. This book is loaded with case studies and best practices from many of the leading companies and experts in military talent programs. Justin covers 5 of the 6 phases of the employee life cycle- attraction through retention. I highly recommend this book, especially for those who want to provide meaningful employment to veterans and military spouses but are less familiar with the military candidate.

Justin Constantine's latest book, From We Will to At Will is the most comprehensive title I have ever read concerning veteran transition and employment. I have been in the veteran workforce development arena for almost 4 years, and his writing helped reaffirm that I was doing many of the right things, but I also learned a little more with each turned page. I especially appreciated his additional focus on women veterans and the helpful resources in the appendices. We bought 250 copies and have been giving them to veteran-friendly employers across the state of Michigan. Highly recommended!!
