What isn't shown in the picture is the 2 pans shown uncovered are actually a perfect fit for the 2 smallest lids. So all 5 pans in this set can be covered, just not at the same time.
I do really enjoy cooking in these pans. All of the lids have steam-holes. I like cooking rice in the saucepan because I don't have the problems of boiling over or sticking to the bottom like my old ones. So far, nothing has stuck to these pans. They have been easy to cook with and easy to clean.
I had been researching and shopping around for a new pan set for a while and decided on the wearever pure living set for several reasons. I wanted to stop using teflon. I like my cast iron, but it's not always convenient, nor is it truly non-stick. I considered hard anodized aluminum, but learned that cooking in those pans added aluminum to food, especially when cooking acidic foods such as lemon or tomato sauce. Also many such pans are still coated with teflon.
Once I decided on ceramic coated pans, this pan set was an easy choice. I found significantly lower reviews on other similarly priced pans. I did find some sets that were reviewed just as highly, but they were far more expensive. And not all of them were cadmium-free. Plus this wearever set has silicone handles, so they can safely go in the oven. I really like that.
In summary, I'm quite happy with my choice. I feel like I bought the best pans I could have in my price range.
Just a quick update. I've had these pans for almost a year now. A couple of them have minor scratches, most likely from being stacked inside each other for storage (they have rough bottoms). This hasn't affected their performance, and I still think they're more durable then teflon. Their ceramic surfaces have remained non-stick and easy to cook with. I still really like them. I would buy them again.
Another update. My set is in mostly good condition. The largest skillet has a big spot in the middle that for some reason isn't as non-stick as the rest of the pan. I think this is the case with my smallest pan too, just haven't used it in a while. We have not been gentle with these. On the stove top I try to follow the manufacturer's instruction not to go over medium-high heat, but I definitely have put these in the oven at higher than recommended temps. The only thing I noticed from this is that the handles have darker coloring in some spots. The biggest "mishap" is when someone was making hot dogs in the smallest pan with a few tbsp of water and cooked until the water was evaporated and a black crust was left coating the pan. lol. This did not wash away with soap and water. I thought I'd have to throw the pan away but a little baking soda and vinegar helped a lot. It has never fully returned to white but it gets a little lighter every time we use and wash. So it's still usable, but definitely not like new. At this point these pans are still working for me but I am thinking of replacing them soon. I will definitely stick with ceramic next time I buy a pan set. I could never go back.
I've been using these ceramic set for about 8 months and after the first 2 months I notice food sticking to the pans. Such as fried egg, stif fry, and pretty much anything fried. I could not believe it, I was so disappointed. So I shrugged it off and decided that it's just one pan. I kept using the set for another 6 months up to this present date and food has regularly stick to the entire set of cookware. I was cooking fried over easy eggs and cannot make a perfect fried egg without destroying it. It's so frustrating that I'm deciding on throwing the entire set out. I'm unsure how this cookware set receive such high ratings, I think everyone made reviews only in the first few months. But the cookware deteriorates over time. It will not last over 1 year. I can guarantee you will get stuck-on food when frying. The set still looks good physically, we take great care and use silicon utensils with these however I am stumped on the quality of the cookware
Stay with stainless steel, they always work great and will last you a lifetime.
Now fast forward to April 2014. These pans are now very sticky and their surfaces are damaged (pits, scratches, exposed aluminum) everywhere. Every time I use them, I have to soak them in soap and water to be able to clean them.
Very disappointed, and I won't be buying another WearEver set. I'm now in the market for a lasting ceramic set.
I let the pan sit overnight. This morning I cooked scrambled eggs and fried eggs with no added oil in pan on low heat. pan sure holds the heat and got very hot even on low heat. turned pan off the last 2 minutes of cooktime and both types of eggs turned out perfectly. no sticking whatsoever. very happy with pans as long as no cracking or aluminum shows through after time. I also don't like the "engineered in USA statement. that is confusing to most. The way I see it , It was designed on paper in the USA and sent to China for manufacturing. Don't confuse the public to get them to buy your pans "thinking" they are made in the USA. THEY ARE MADE IN CHINA! my biggest complaint is that they don't offer the 15 piece set in champagne color. they do offer additional fry pans and the 3 quart saucepan as individual pieces so I'll have to spend more money to have a decent size set. so far I'm extremely pleased with this set and hope they hold up.
