-- Since this is listed as a microlozenge, I was expecting something like a tiny cough drop -- but this is not really a lozenge. It's a small tablet, with the powdery consistency of uncoated aspirin. It takes a few minutes to dissolve in your mouth, and it leaves behind a goopy cherry mess.
-- The taste is kind of nauseating, sort of a sour cherry with a slight medicinal taste. It could definitely benefit from some sugar or natural sweetener.
Positives:
-- I discovered that I could drop one tablet into a tablespoon of water (room temp), and it would dissolve very fast. Taking it as a liquid is a definite improvement.
-- it does seem like a powerful dosage, and I have noticed some positive health benefits.
-- This is a methylcobalamin, the healthy form of B-12. Do not take cyanocobalamin -- as it contains small amounts of cyanide !!!
Summary
I already opened the bottle, and it would cost too much to return this item. But I feel like I was misled, and the product is fairly awful. A MUCH better alternative is the Kirkman methylcobalamin in powder form.
Despite all the positive ratings, this product was not for me!
Great price! I'm in my mid-60's and recently listened to a radio show saying older folks may need more b-12 and that a person can't absorb it thru a regular vitamin pill. Rather, B-12 can only be absorbed when taken sublingually or thru a shot. Additionally, the B-12 should be the Methycobalamin form, which this is. A symptom of not getting enough B-12 is fatigue, and lack of focus. I've been taking one or two tablets under my tongue for about a month now, and I definitely feel it gives me a greater sense of energy and mental focus. It's much different than a stimulant like coffee or green tea with caffeine. The B-12 seems to help me feel more clear headed and focused to do mental tasks, without the caffeine jitters. I remember in my 50's also trying B-12, also in this form and under the tongue, and I felt no difference what so ever. So maybe it's especially good for those in their 60's and over. Supposedly, older stomachs don't digest the B-12 from food well?
This Webber Natural 5,000mcg is about half the price of the other Methyl-B12 tabs out there, so I was a bit suspicious. Still I decided to give them a try. I've only been taking them for two days, so I may update this review in a month. I've been taking a tab 3x a day and have not missed coffee. I seem to be more alert with an elevated mood.
I can't complain about that for the price! So far, I highly recommend this product, and at the price, I can justify taking three times the daily dosage.
The product tastes very good, and melts in my mouth in less than 30 seconds. It does soothe my muscle pain gradually. I have been taking it every other day for a few weeks. Was surprised to receive it with a Costco packing slip and found out that Costco online sells it for about $5.00 less.
Methycobalamin B12 is what you want because cyanocobalamin is the fake synthetic man-made version. B-12 deficiency is shockingly widespread. Studies now show that up to 40% of the population may be deficient in vitamin B-12, so this should be at the top of your list to buy. Some doctors recommend an oral dose of 2,000 mcg/day during the first month, in order to replenish body stores; then drop down to 1,000 mcg/day. For fatigue, weakness, trouble with balance, confusion, memory loss, dementia, coldness, energy I take 5,000 mcg/day.
The product is likely good, but I had some sort of weird reaction in that they would make my tongue bleed.....2 trips to emergency and 1 to an Ear, Throat Dr......until we figured it out..... just wanted to put it out there in case someone had a similar reaction
I thought for sure these were going to be different then what I could buy anywhere... the bottle they look like tiny tic-tac gelatin looking things but now i see those are supposed to be red blood cells not the shape of the vitamin. Disappointing, but I am going to check them out, maybe I'll review my rating later.
