UPDATE: After I posted this, I was replied to by Weber, letting me know that the cover was warrantied for three years. Even though my warranty had expired, they offered to honor it and promptly shipped my replacement. After I've used it for awhile, I'll update this again if the quality has improved but I'm adding two stars for the excellent customer service.
While the product didn't last, Weber's customer service has been great! I emailed the company to let them know of my issues with the cover, and their customer service rep has shipped me a replacement (new model 7107) as I was within their two year warranty period. Hopefully the new model (now with a 3 year warranty, and $70+ MSRP) will function better.
Now those of you reading all the positive reviews here on Amazon need to be wary. Most people are reviewing this item immediately after purchasing it. If I had left a review on day 1, it would be a 5 star review since the grill is nicely put together and is a perfect fit for the grill. But for about $50, you'd think a Weber branded item would last a bit longer than 1 - 2 years. I'm about to purchase a new cover and it won't be this one again. If that one doesn't last longer, I may come back to this...but atleast I know the grill will still be standing strong. Weber grills are awesome...I just wish I could say the same thing about the covers.
I have 2, one for my Genesis - this one - and one for my Smokey Mountain. Neither of them is waterproof. Every time I remove either of them from my grills, there's condensation underneath on the grill surface and the temperature gauges are misted up.
All these covers are good for is stopping the very worst of the elements. They won't keep your grill dry, which is strange, because all the outside furniture covers I have all work perfectly well at keeping out the rain....
Keep in mind, I grill a few times a week, keep the cover on my grill (after it has cooled down) and keep things in good condition. Two major problems: Two months in and the seam that is on the right side around the grill lid is already coming apart!! The second issue, I live in the south (where it gets warm) and recently had a ton of rain. I decided to leave my cover off and let things air out/dry out for a bit. It was in the upper 80's/low 90's. By the time I went to put the cover back on the grill, the vinyl had MELTED in spots and stuck to itself. It actually ripped as I tried to pull it apart. So much for the cover - it is useless now. I don't understand....this thing needs to be able to withstand high temperatures in the summertime (even if the grill is not in use, it's going to bake in the sun during the day). I'd like my money back for this piece of garbage, but sadly, I don't think that will happen.
I have seen reviews for the Veranda BBQ cover - which appears to be much higher quality, lower cost and 3 year warranty. I'll be buying that.
