If you're REALLY REALLY careful and have PERFECT manual dexterity you may get lucky and place the rubber seal EXACTLY where it needs to be. Then you have to be REALLY REALLY careful to not move it one bit while placing the glass lid over the seal - then you only get a few drips instead of a running stream down your hand onto the floor or counter.
OH, and you MIGHT have better luck if you completely DRY the mouth of the jar first.
Just another example of products not made in America which other countries don't seem to use common sense about. WHO wants jars for liquids which leak? Jars which are OBVIOUSLY for LIQUIDS!
And according to reviewers, the replacement lids without the complicated clips and gasket leak, TOO!
I can make a days worth of fresh choose in a right sized container that fits nicely on the shelf in my refrigerator.
However, the lid with rubber gaskets and springs are a real bother. My elderly mother can't manage the contraption. The first thing the spring wants to do the moment you press it is fly across your kitchen or down the drain.
It they make a press on cap instead of all that, it would be much better.
I've had no problem with leakage when traveling with it as designed.
The bottle is a little thick and I cannot recommend drinking directly from it but only using it for juice storage.
If you buy box wine here is a lot nicer way to put some wine on your table and no bulky boxes of wine .
