To me the most interesting thing about this story was how much Avery didn’t want to fall in love, which is opposite most romances you read. So you have Avery fighting tooth and nail against her attraction to Jason and Jason patiently wearing down her resolve to not date him. It was hilarious reading about the little things that gave away how she was falling for Jason, like wearing a silly grin while making smiley faces with the cinnamon roll icing.
I love this series, The Wedding Whisperer. Each book has a beautiful gem of wisdom about love and marriage. I really appreciated this one because it’s so true that often we expect perfection in our relationships. The ‘wedding whisperer’ gives some sage counsel to Avery that everyone should remember. But I don’t want to give it away, you have to read it to find out what it is!
A great little book and a sweet romance. I received an advanced copy of this book from the author. However, this review is voluntary and my honest opinion.
I love romance more than any other genre, but I love the story to have some deeper levels to it and this one delivers a fun, mild mystery to go along with Avery's passionate cause--helping a homeless program. This book is told from Avery's point-of-view and it's heartening to watch her discover that all of her preconceived notions may not be true.
In a sweet and gentle manner, this story swept me off my feet and kept me reading until I honestly couldn't keep my eyes open for one more second. True story--I woke up this morning to finish the book and only had 1.5 pages left. I was so close!
Content: mild romance
*I received a complimentary copy. All opinions expressed are my own and were voluntarily given.*
Once again, author Susan Hatler wrote a sweet, flirty, romantic story. The Wedding Catch includes a touch of adventure as Avery and Jason try to find long-lost tunnels from the Gold Rush and to save the homeless shelter from being sold and demolished.
While the story could have been told from the perspectives of both Avery and Jason and still worked, I love that the author chose to tell this only from Avery’s point of view. Being able to know her thoughts and not know what was going on with Jason was very effective.
I enjoyed that Jason seemed oblivious to the fact that he was so handsome. He was fun and flirty and persistent, which I also loved. His kind heart and willingness to just jump in and help where needed made him all the more charming. And his sense of humor was too fun! The stuff with the squirrels – it was great!
If you’re looking for a quick romantic read, don’t look any further!
I was given a copy of this book for free. I was not required to give a favorable review nor was any money received for this review. All comments and opinions are my own.
Jason Morgan strolls into the bakery, spots Avery and promptly asks her out. Her refusal just sparks his interest more, he has time he is not going anywhere until after his cousin’s marriage.
Avery volunteers at the homeless outreach program and the program is in danger of being closed down by a huge developer. All looks lost until she receives a mystery note. As Avery continues to take Jason with her to volunteer at the program, she starts developing feelings for him against her own better judgement and wishes. Jason however is not honest with Avery and her discovery of that secret could tear them apart.
This book has it all - fun and sweet scenes, mystery, hope and romance which made the book a good read in my opinion.
I received a free ARC copy for my honest opinion.
Avery had a very tough time of it from the start, but it doesn't stop her from wanting to help others. Her biggest softness is for the homeless since that hits home for her. But she is just a nice person to everyone and works hard to run her bakery, in addition she is working on helping with a wedding. Jason has been working to get Avery to go out with him and see him for something other than the money he has...that he is a good person too. Avery has a new mission to save the homeless shelter so when Jason tries again to have her go out with him, she throws down the option to help her at the homeless shelter. Then she gets him to start helping her save the shelter until she finds out who is really wanting the shelter.
This is my first book but this author....but I hope to read more since I thoroughly enjoyed it!
