BOOK DESCRIPTION: After Julie Delgado's restaurant closes, she temporarily takes over the catering position at the Rose Chalet, a full-service San Francisco wedding venue. She plans to dazzle the bride and groom so the Chalet's owner will keep her around, but fate has other plans for her when the bride's brother shows up for the first food tasting.

Andrew Kyle is not only the Cuisine Channel's Edgy Eats host and chef, but his recent review of Julie's restaurant was the final nail in its coffin. Once he meets Julie at the Rose Chalet, he's certain she's playing it safe. And he wants nothing more than to be the one to break her guarded passions loose.

But despite the undeniable sparks between Julie and Andrew-and the fact that he seems to believe in her when no one else does-can she afford to be taking risks with her cooking, with her career...or with her heart?

Julie Delgado's restaurant is killed by a bad review from celebrity chef Andrew Kyle. Now that she's lost everything and living with her Aunt, she's desperate for a temporary stint as a wedding caterer at The Rose Chalet to turn into a permanent gig. It's just poor Julie's luck that Andrew Kyle's brother is the groom and overseeing the food is Andrew's wedding gift to him. Andrew has his eye on Julie and Julie is nothing short of confused. She should hate the man, right?

This book was adorable. Julie plays life safe to prevent rejection and hurt feelings. Andrew's job isn't just to woo her but to help her learn how to take risks and trust her instincts. I thought it was great seeing Julie in the process of learning how to trust herself and shed some of that insecurity. I thought the chemistry between the two was great and I thought they were well suited for each other.

The book isn't long (114 pages) but I felt that the author utilized the length well. I wasn't bored, I didn't feel like I was reading filler, it was well paced and it ended well. All in all, this was a great relaxing Sunday afternoon read that I would recommend.

*This is a clean romance, just kissing...no naughty bits.

I normally hesitate to write a bad review for a book because as a writer I do know how hard it is to write a book. That said, I really can't say much that's good about this book. I read it because the description says that readers of Nora Roberts would like this writer. If by that they meant that this writer shamelessly used Nora's Bride Quartet series for inspiration, then they're right. That's where the similarities end between the two authors. This book is all fluff and no substance. By the end, the two main characters who we never really get to know that well and are not fully developed, are suddenly completely in love with each other. The secondary characters are merely cardboard and there are no friendships between the characters that are developed at all, yet we're somehow supposed to become interested in reading four more books that comprise this series. No thank you. I won't be wasting my time with any more books by this author. If you truly are a Nora Roberts fan, then steer clear. This author has none of Nora's knack for creating loveable characters that are well-developed and believable, nor does she have any ability to write a romantic love story. The romance in this book was nonexistent. The only good thing about this book was that it was free and I didn't waste any money on it. Don't waste your time on this one.

Really nice book with an interesting development of the plot for a short novella. Haven't expected to like it so much.
Would have liked to have a real epilogue though, and not just the preview of the next book disguised as an epilogue for this story..

I'm sorry (no, I'm not), but the "sex, was good", does not cut it for me. For the most part, this was a sweet food+romance story. Not quite enough cooking detail, not nearly romance detail. I did enjoy it and I would read more by this author, but beware of the lack of HEAT.

This book was a decent quick read. It had the potential to be a good story, however it is rushed and left me disappointed. The author does not take the time to develop the characters and pace the story line. It's more of a short story with a predictable ending. It was really confusing as a reader to have characters hate each other, then be madly in love all within a couple days with little interaction. There is a lot of internal dialogue, however not much conversation that would lead to them being crazy in love.

I really wanted to like this book, but unfortunately it's not a story that will stick with me. I finished it and did not have an afterthought about it.

I would recommend this book to anyone looking for a quick read with a predictable story line.

As with all of Lucy Kevin's books, I enjoyed this book. It is a basic book about romance and a couple falling in love. It is a book that you can read and not think much. If you like those kind of books, then this one is for you. I know I found myself cheering on the main character. If you are looking for a highly intellectual book with subplots, then this book is not for you. It is a quick read at just around 180 pages, if it was in book form. While I do enjoy an book that sparks my intellect, from time to time I also enjoy a mindless-feel-good book.

I really wanted to read this series. I love books about wedding. However, this book was in need of a good editing. For example, they wanted to walk around the gardens and it wrote to talk around the gardens. The sentence structure was more on the level of a older teenager. Every thought and every time tried to speak they were interrupted. The story had a great potential. A restaurant shuts down because of a 2 star review from a critic. Then this critic treats her more as if she was writing a term paper instead of cooking food. It felt more like a teenage novel. With the interruptions, the poor editing and the story dragging alone, I wasn't able to read past Chapter 4.

This story started out really, really good, but it sort of lost steam for me about 3/4 of the way through the story. I was just really getting into the story, when puff it took a bad turn and it never really got back on track, or at least it didn't for me anyway.

And another thing.... I don't know that if I were Julie, that I would have forgiven Andrew quite so easily as she did. After all....it was because of his unnecessary harsh review, that Julie ended up not only losing her restaurant, but her house and car, too. Basically... he'd ruined her whole life with his 2.5 star review, but why? It wasn't because the food wasn't good, because it was. No, it was because he wanted it too be a lot more than just that. But that's not what he had stated it in his write-up. He called it bland and tasteless, which was a complete lie. And then he proceeded to go on about her lack of business. Well you don't always have a booming business, especially when you're just starting out. That's something that usually builds over time, both by word of mouth and a lot of hard work. And I'd like to know who made him the God of all food anyway? Is his taste buds the only ones that count in that town?

And not only bad enough that he'd destroyed her life once already, but then he comes back and gets her fired again. How could she end up falling in love with someone like that? I just don't get it at all.

And I was really disappointed in the epilogue. Why even write an epilogue for a story, when it has nothing to do with the two main characters in the story? The only thing the epilogue even mentioned about the the two main characters, were that they looked so happy and in love, while they were dancing on the dance floor. WTH??
