Wedding Goddess is a soulful look at the sacred ritual of marriage. Laurie Sue Brockway brings you into the world of weddings in the most beautiful, altruistic sense rather than how the machine of the wedding industry commercializes it. Laurie Sue is a minister who customizes weddings to the individual--there's no pat formula here, just two people in love coming together in the way that makes them feel most connected. This book is for those who are getting married but also for everyone who wants to open your heart and honor the committment to yourself and humanity.

This book is a new age-y, spiritual guide about how to deal with wedding stress and create the wedding of your dreams. I think the intent and writing style is very nice, but this book wasn't really for me. I am a low key bride, and suggestions like setting up a wedding altar, having a breathing meditation with my fiance, and having my engagement ring blessed by friends seems like adding stress to wedding planning. Perhaps I am a very basic bride!

I do like how the author focuses on making the wedding more than a "wedding industrial complex" party. There is also good advice about dealing with dramatic people (especially family and friends) and incorporating special people in your ceremony.

For me, the way towards the least stress is a very basic guide about what to do and when, like in The Knot Ultimate Wedding Planner.

Rev. Laurie Sue married my husband and I on September 5, 2001 in Central Park. I knew she was an amazing woman the first time I met her. Much of what is in this book she told my hubby and I during our pre-ceremony meeting. The wedding ceremony she performed for us was as beautiful as anything I could've imagined. We were relaxed and truly enjoyed OUR day. Laurie Sue focused on the connection between my hubby and I. It made us feel empowered and strong. Having Laurie Sue marry us cemented the already strong bond we share. This book is very important to all brides. The focus of a wedding should be on the love and commitment between the bride and groom. Stress should be at a minimum. Laurie Sue's book gives great advice on keeping the priorities straight. I highly recommend this book!
