Like the last book, this one deviates away from the contract marriage theme, and gives us just a very sweet love story.
There are lots of little puzzle pieces that come together to make this story. A sons relationship with his father, a daughter with hers. Ruthless businessmen hoping to take advantage of some down on their luck folks, cousins who want to expand into building luxury homes, lies and misdirection, all for the all mighty dollar.
Axel and Taylor start out, not especially happy to be thrown together writing his fathers biography. Taylor only sees the end result, a Vice President position with her fathers company, a corner office and lots of minions to do her bidding.
Axel feels there is more going on than just his father wanting his story told. After all, his father never does something just for the sake of being kind. So he'll put up with his fathers absurd request and deal with working with Taylor if it keeps his father off his back. And allow himself to finish his novel. His true passion. That and his rescued animals.
Taylor was not my favorite character at the start of this book. But I guess she had to start out awful in order to redeem herself later on. Hateful, snooty and entitled to sweet, caring and lovable in just a few short chapters. Her turnaround was very quick. It felt too rushed. That would be my only complaint. I loved Axel.
This was a very sweet, clean uncomplicated story.
