The plot -- seemingly flawless -- makes for an adventure that is impossible to put down. It took me much longer than I ever would have wanted to pick up this book (hello, review-TBR), and a blink of an eye to read it. I'd have papercuts if I didn't read it on a tablet.
The author uses yarn of brilliance to tie Wednesday and her world at large together, and everything falls into place page after page effortlessly, it would seem. It is suspenseful in a way that steals your breath, your heart, and your sleep, all at the same time. Either Sharpe is a genius or Sharpe is a genius.
Love love love this book. I am very eager to see where Sharpe's career takes him -- wherever that place may be, I can't imagine it being anywhere else but the top. He is a stunning writer.
Wednesday is fiction, but focuses on topics that can be uncomfortable to some readers. The manner of presentation in the book allows for a level of detachment through a Hollywood action film level of impossibility to the story. Each of these topics taken individually are a reality, and give the characters of Wednesday and Alvin the roles of representing misfortune, tragedy, and abuse, spread out between them.
I have given the book five stars due to the quality of work by a relatively new author and his performance as a storyteller. If you want a good story for an afternoon read, Wednesday is worth taking a look.
Alvin is a calm, collected, think everything through and consider every consequence kinda guy.
Put them together... comedic gold the situations these two end up in (mostly because of Wednesday) are most times disastrous and oftentimes hilarious..
A wonderful and very well written story filled with modern day satire and very realistic situations (if everyone you knew wanted you dead that is.)
I very much enjoyed this book and feel it would be a great read for all ages.
