This book however, had me feeling some type of way. Like, ok, their Wednesdays were seriously hot, no one can deny that. Of course Chloe's there for Shaw when he needs a release, all she's ever known is being there for him. But, he's just taking everything she has and not giving anything back.
"My drug of choice was my best friend, naked and writhing beneath me. Did that make me a monster? Maybe."
She gives in to him too easy. In moments when I feel anyone else would pull away, she moves forward. He starts to really pay attention to what they're doing when she starts to go on a couple of dates, but really, what did he expect from her? To just sit around waiting for him on Wednesdays forever?? Cause, really?
"My heart was my own worst enemy. And the traitorous bitch was playing for keeps."
So yea, the heat is hot, the read is quick, the cute is kinda/sorta/slightly redeeming, but it all just didn't click together for me. Yea, sure, he gets his head out of his ass in the end, but he's kind of a huge jackass in the middle and I couldn't quite get over that.
"How do you expect me to know how to navigate this whole situation?"
"I expect you to give me what I crave" - No, no, just all the nope. Sure this sounds hot out of context, but when it happened all I wanted was Chloe to stand up and slap him.
I do enjoy Kendall Ryan's writing style, though, and can't wait for the "Hitched" trilogy!
I also really liked the 2nd book included with Wednesday, Lessons With the Dom, Book 1. It too was short, but really hot and surprisingly emotional. I was expecting the typical 50 Shades crap (don't even get me started on how much I hate that book and its characters!), but this was nothing like that, thank God!! I loved how Hale and Brie came together, and explored her budding self confidence, both in and out of bed. I think Hale might be one of my favorite book bf's. He was sweet, smart, dominant, and soooo hot. And Brie, wow, she was awesome, especially by the end when she had grown into her self confidence and demanded she be treated with the respect and love she deserved.
