I received an ARC of this story and have chosen to leave a review.
By Kay Jaybee
I have to say this one kind of threw me for a loop. It isn’t what I am used to reading from Kay. Don’t get me wrong I am not saying I didn’t like it, it was just different. Of course, there are some naughty and hot scenes going on but it was just different. We have our shy Wednesday who has attracted a very good looking man named Lucas. Lucas is a strange character in my opinion but he brings out something in Wednesday that she never thought she would do. Thursday is a woman who wants everything her way and will do everything in her power to get it. When they all come together it gets very interesting. These characters are well thought out and they really do fit each other. Now that I think about it, it really makes perfect sense but I can’t really get into it because I don’t want to spoil it for you. You have to read it for yourself. I received this copy as a gift from the author for an honest review.
I reckon the major relationship theme is very much “mind games”, combining a bit of a psychological mystery with some really steamy BDSM erotic scenes. And the odd one which blows the lid off the kettle...
I don’t like giving anything away which might be a “spoiler”, so there’s not a lot I can say.
The tension develops early, as Wednesday is edged out of her comfort zone, and she stays there. Interesting to have some much more idiosyncratic and flawed characters than usual, and a rather grubbier setting.
I wondered how the story would end, but genuinely hadn’t anticipated the conclusion. Almost literary, in being an end to this account which isn’t an end to the story.
I purchased this as a kindle e-book from Amazon UK.
The book is well written with a nice steady pace. The characters are nicely developed and each stand out in their own way. I think it is very much worth reading and look forward to reading more by this author in the future.
After receiving an note from the enigmatic stranger, Wednesday finds herself at his door.
Lucas love words. He studies their effect on the human psyche. Shortly after meeting him, Wednesday is way out of her comfort zone and realises she is relishing it.
Copy received in exchange for an honest review.
