After 60 minutes of repeat use (on/off/on/off) and eradicating my garden of its overgrowth, this Weedeater passed my initial tests.
1.) Very easy to assemble right out of the box. The items comes in three separate pieces (top shaft, bottom shaft, and guard). The only concern I have is the plastic locking mechanism use to join/secure the shaft.
2.) Starting was easy. As mentioned in other reviews, the MOST IMPORTANT thing to do is follow the directions: keep the weedeater horizontal, press the primer 10 times, pull the rip cord, and then wait 30 seconds before touching the throttle.

Make sure you use ear protection (it is very loud) and eye protection when using this device. Prolonged use without ear protection will disturb your ears and cause ringing for a few minutes after you shut-down.

Lighter than some. Quieter than my old one. Easy starting. Bought one for a friend and had to have one for myself. It's just right for
our yard.

I bought this over a year ago, so I have gotten to spend quite a bit of time with it. I generally didn't have problems starting this last season, but when I tried to start it for the first time this season I got nothing. I checked the choke, spark plug, filter, and gas lines. I lubed all the moving parts and mechanisms. I couldn't find any problems. I even tried to use starting fluid. Still nothing. I tried for 3 days and gave up. Today (two weeks after giving up) It started up on the second pull like a champ.

When it is running it runs smoothly and starts on the first pull after it's been warmed up.

As for handling, I don't find it too heavy, but it is very unbalanced. I have used other trimmers where the balance point is very near the caryy/steadying handle and can be easily operated with only the throttle hand in those instances when you need to use your other hand to hold a branch or other item out of the way. The balance point on this model is behind the throttle about 2-3 inches in front of the motor. Because of this, if for whatever reason you have to let go with the "steadying" hand, the trimmer head end will swing up while still spinning at full speed.

The trimmer line is very easy to load...that is the only good thing about it. Refills are expensive. $10-$12 for 12 of them, I usually go through 4 or 5 of them every time I trim my yard, which only takes about 30 minutes. I have tried making my own refills from a spool of trimmer line, but it seems to break even faster than the ones that are specifically made for this trimmer. Today the line kept breaking so often and quickly that I gave up...I was spending 3 times as much time changing line than I was actually trimming my yard. Maybe the brand of line I am using is no good. Regardless, a bump-feed head would be much better on this model.

In all it's not a BAD product, it could just be better with some minor improvements.

I had same item and it was about 8 years old so I needed it replaced so bought the same one again. It is LIGHT efficient, easy to use, easy to start, as long as you prim it and follow the starting directions even after 8 years sarted first pull. After 8 years it began to drip a little oil onto motor but let me tell you it was totally used/abused I am surprised it lasted this long with teenagers using it.

My husband is the weedeater guy around here. He loves his new Weedeater! He said it starts easy and he likes how it handles. It does use the line up very fast, so he's going to have to get another head to put on it. Other than that, he's like a kid with a new toy!

I used this trimmer yesterday for the first time. It started quickly, but I went through the trimmer line they sent in record time. The line seemed to disintegrate quickly since it was too light for my lawn. I went from the .080 line to the .095 line That I was using before and the trimmer worked better and I only had to replace the line one more time. My last weed eater trimmer lasted 10 years, but this one will never last that long looking at how cheaply it is made.

It does a good job and easy to thread with the string but it is so hard to start. I about pull my arm off getting it started for the first time. Once it is started I can stop it and start it again with out puilling my arm out of joint.

This item replaced an eight year old model. The unit starts easily each time. The "break-in" for the carburetor adjustment takes some patience. The unit would not run a full throttle (seemed to flood @ full initially) even though the starting instructions about run time before utilizing the trigger were followed completely.
