Launched in 2007, Catherine, mom to Kenya, Chloe and Gemma, created Weelicious.com as a platform to show parents around the world how easy and beneficial it is to expose children to wholesome, delicious homemade food. After personally struggling with how to feed Kenya as a baby, Catherine recognized a need to be filled: simple, nutritious recipes for parents using minimal ingredients that are fully loaded with flavor. Weelicious is currently home to over 1,300+ original family friendly recipes and more than 300 videos. Catherine inspires the Weelicious community with readily available ingredients and recipes that are fast and easy. Weelicious is a wealth of trusted information for families.

In 2012, William Morrow published Catherine's first book, Weelicious: One Family. One Meal. An inspirational feeding guide, Catherine cleverly weaves together first-hand experience with fact-based evidence, then naturally progresses into 140 of her original “fast, fun and easy” recipes. Her second book, Weelicious Lunches: Think Outside the Lunchbox published by William Morrow in September 2013. Addressing the familiar lament of the redundant nature of creating lunches for children, Catherine provides a variety of realistic solutions and more than 160 recipes to help time-challenged parents think outside the box, and beyond the standard PB&J, when packing their kids' lunch.

Her third book, Smoothie Project, resulted from a quest she had embarked on to heal her son’s chronic ailments through nutrition after no doctor was able to uncover why he felt unwell. Having documented that whole journey for years on social media, along the way she encountered so many people suffering with their own health challenges who also found relief in nourishing their bodies with smoothies. Intended to be the ultimate smoothie bible, the book is filled with over 100 delicious smoothie recipes and how to nutritionally tailor them for your own specific health needs and feel your very best.

Catherine’s most recent book, Meal Prep Magic, is being released in Spring of 2023. The book is filled with time saving tricks for stress-free cooking, tips to organize your kitchen and meal prep hacks to help you save both time and money and turn your kitchen — the room we probably all spend the most time — into a space you love to be in.

Catherine authors a monthly “Snack Mom” column in Parenting Magazine, has appeared multiple times in People, Self and Real Simple Magazine, on the Today Show, The Chew, Access Hollywood Live, Good Morning America and Fox News. She appears regularly on the Food Network’s Guy’s Grocery Games has guested on Next Food Network Star and Duff Till Dawn and each week on NBC’s Danny Seo Naturally.

Catherine is the co-founder of One Potato: a family friendly meal company delivering semi-prepared meals to encourage families to cook and eat together.

I was disappointed because the description when buying this used said it had tight binding. That turned out not to be true. I love this kids lunch cookbook but hate that it’s already coming apart

I went through this book to label all of the recipes that looked delicious and that used pretty simple ingredients. I marked pretty much EVERY page. There are so many ideas on ways to prepare the same foods a bit differently every time. My daughter and I are both crazy about the food we make in this book. Very good place to start if it seems overwhelming and stressful for you to come up with kid friendly meals every days. There are a lot of recipes that gently introduce new foods. I know I was stressed about coming up with lunches in particular and this is a great resource.

I purchased this cookbook to give me some ideas on packing a lunch for my son when he starts preschool in the fall. He is still a toddler so coming up with ideas that would be easy as finger foods yet nutritious and portable was very difficult. While this book doesn't have a ton of ideas that cater to kids my son's age, there were some really helpful recipes. He really enjoys the cinnamon sushi rolls and we have adapted the "sushi" concept to make a few different bite-size sandwich rolls that he really likes. He loves the roasted carrot coins as well and the veggie cream cheese. All in all, a great addition to our cookbook library and one that I find myself pulling out to use multiple times a week!

First, there are a lot of recipes in this book, so that is a plus. However, my track record so far with finding recipes that actually work is not great. The chicken nugget recipe, which gets talked about online like it's the second coming, was a huge disappointment. It's a lot of work for very bland chicken nuggets that even my bland chicken nugget loving five-year-old won't eat (they ended up getting fed to the dog, since I couldn't stomach them, either, and I love me some chicken nuggets). That same pattern repeats with all of the "healthy copycat" style recipes I have tried so far. There are a few recipes in here that are great. The pumpkin muffins are a fall staple in my house. The majority I have tried, however, have fallen flat. And one other thing: this may be a personal pet-peeve, but the author spends a lot of time trash-talking foods she doesn't like or deems "less than" her versions. Why is her chicken nugget recipe prefaced by a paragraph about how awful chicken nuggets are? Why do I need to know her thoughts about goldfish in order to made her goldfish copycat recipe, which by the way, also got fed to the dog, because it tastes a bit like Mrs. Dash-flavored sawdust? The author would have done better to keep those thoughts to herself. I like the website, but this book has been a disappointment so far.

The Pros:
It's a gorgeous book. Lots of photos, lovely to look at.
There are many helpful tips on packing lunches.
The recipes are all fairly easy and are well written.
The food is tasty!

The Cons:
A lot of the sandwich ideas are for grilled sandwiches, which honestly don't pack well in my opinion. Melted cheese resolidifies and crispy exteriors get soggy. Your kids may not care about that, though. Mine, unfortunately for me, do.
The advice can seem a bit overwhelming; making all that stuff for lunches every day is a LOT of work. And yes, making extra and freezing it is a GREAT idea. IF you have a much bigger freezer than I do.

Overall, it's a great book, and I'd recommend it to those who are looking for new ideas, or those who are just starting to pack lunches for (or better yet WITH their kids.) Those who have been doing it for a while might not get quite as much out of it, but it does contain some solid advice and some great recipes.

I'm sure some reviewers will mention that all of this information is online at the authors website. It's true it is. But having the recipes and pictures presented so nicely in an easy to read format that I can page through with my daughters is perfect. I have made many recipes from the book and love them (Mexican muffins, avocado hummus, coconut date cookies). You can go the website and look up each recipe to read feedback on each from readers which can be very helpful.

This is not really for parents of picky eaters. I never in a million years would have gotten my picky twins to eat a veggie burger made with bulgur wheat. It is, however, GREAT for my foodie 4th kid. I needed some new lunch box ideas for my fabulous kid who eats everything ... Except nuts and sunflower seeds to which she is allergic. The honey cinnamon roasted chickpea recipe alone was worth the price of the book. There are a lot of recipes for nut butters that I can't use, but there are a lot of other recipes that are delicious. I made the Mexican brown rice cakes for myself and my 4th kid and baby and my husband gobbled them up!

I bought this book to have new ideas for kids bento lunch
The book is divided into sections by food type, so you need to visit all these sections to make full lunch
It would be helpful if the writer suggested bento lunch per day

My son is 5-year old and has started kindergarten, whenever I run out of ideas for lunches, this book is a life-saver! Healthy and creative (cream cheese, honey and cinnamon sushis anyone?!) ideas. It also contributed to expanding my son's tastes. He often tells me that his friends were curious about his lunches. Thanks to this book, no more stuck in a rut with ham, egg salad or tuna sandwiches!!!

Great source of inspiration. I have tried several recipes that my 14month old twins are able to eat. I have been a little disappointed with the sweet stuff as it never turns out like in the picture or tastes all that nice despite following the recipe and being an experienced baker. The savoury stuff has been spot on so far.
