Weider 100 lb Adjustable Select-A-Weight Set
Perform all your favorite dumbbell exercises without taking up an entire corner of your garage with dumbbell storage with the Weider Core adjustable Select-a-Weight set. Each Select-a-Weight dumbbell adjusts from 10 to 50 pounds in 5-pound increments, in effect giving you nine pairs of dumbbells in the space of one. All told, the Select-a-Weight requires the storage space of an end table, with a tray and stand that hold your weights at an easy-access height. The Select-a-Weight set is also easy to use: simply adjust the selector to your preferred weight, lock it in, and lift. Now you can quickly perform bicep supersets or drop weight for your fifth shoulder press, all without buying an entire set of individual dumbbells.

I was initially worried about the item due to the fact that the box had obviously been opened. I didn't want to go through the hassle of a return, so I checked the box to ensure all the parts were in the box, and they were.
When I completed building the stand and put the weights in the stand, I noticed that there was a screw on one of the weights that was loose and could not be tightened. In addition, the plastic that holds the adjustable weights in place (and are required for proper functioning) was very thin, and cracked. The quality of the plastic holder is very poor, and in my opinion, even if it was pristine out of the box, they will definitely cause problems after semi-regular use over the course of a few months.
I am attempting to return the equipment to Amazon, and Brookstone has been very slow in responding, which is another negative.
I would definitely not recommend the product to a friend, and would also caution others on Brookstone customer service based on two recent transactions. I will update if this changes.
January 17th 2012 update:
I ended up having to ship the product back to Brookstone. Brookstone credited the purchase, but the shipping was at my expense. I had to pay $129.00 for shipping back to Brookstone!!! Amazon rejected my A to Z Claim because they show the credit processed for the order by Brookstone, but do not have a way to address return shipping crediting. All-in-all a horrible experience, and a valuable lesson learned. I no longer trust the marketplace, and believe that Amazon should determine how to address these types of issues, because I am out $129 without a working product due to a defect beyond my control.
Got my box today and thankfully, Weider did a great job protecting them, as UPS did their best to try and destroy it during delivery. (the box was pretty well mangled upon arrival). The weights were encased in styrofoam and there wasn't even a scratch on them.
The stand went together in just a few minutes with ease. Then again it's not exactly a complicated design! I was a little disappointed that the picture seems to show the stand tilting the weights up/out a little... Not the case. I will load a picture at a later time, but the weights sit flat (parallel to the floor when in the stand).
The weight selection tab seems pretty sturdy, the pin is metal and the spring inside the tab seems heavy duty. I played around selecting the different weights and it was a breeze. The weights get stuck in the stand a little when trying to lift the units out of the holders, but I'd rather have that than having the weights that get left behind falling out.
Overall I'm super satisfied, and can see these lasting quite some time! Can't wait to get back to my old fit self!
I can't in good conscience recommend these. Now the idea is great, very clever, compacting them together. But these need some redesigning.
