I cannot tell you how much I identify with Kate. In fact, there will be a few family members receiving this ebook for Christmas. Maybe they will finally become empathetic.
The author put words down in such away that I was grabbed and sucked into the story. I laughed. I cried. I wanted to slap certain supporting characters. I stuck my tongue out. I wanted to scream. The story was so real, so delightful, so engaging. Oh and did I mention the laughs. I found myself having to read sections out loud to my husband after laughing so loudly.
A beautiful relationship developed within the pages. Kate and Chad have become my favorite couple. They just work. Chad's words need to be repeated by so many. Chad's words need to heard by so many. I can't wait for the release so I can by this for my husband and son. I am sure they will enjoy the story as much as I did.
Such a 5 star read, on the laugh scale it's a 12!
Ok, let me start by saying that I wanted to shake, yell at and slam doors on Kate's well meaning, nosy, non-supportive family from the very first sentence. Phew, now that I've gotten THAT out of the way, here is my review...
This is the story of Kate, who is not comfortable in her own body (I blame her family - well meaning jerks). She is a bit overweight and her mom gives her a year long gym membership for Christmas. This is NOT something that Kate would have asked Santa for. With the membership, comes a year of a personal trainer. Her trainer is named Chad and he is a delightful human being that builds folks up immediately instead of breaking them down to rebuild them. Chad and Kate become best friends through her "journey" and things change in ways she never could have expected. It turns out that she is NOT the number on the scale. Chad supports, cajoles, encourages and cheers Kate on from the first day they meet. He helps her become the "Beautiful vibrant woman" she is.
This is a sweet yet powerful story that I enjoyed from beginning to end. There were times I was laughing out loud and other times that I was trying to swallow the lump in my throat. I look forward to reading more of AJ Harmon's books.
