Natalie has just graduated high school and her life has changed in a big way. Her boyfriend of two years broke up with her, and she’s not sure what she wants to do with her life. Her family’s expectations and her own dreams aren’t the same. Not only that, she’s just not happy with herself. So she decides to make a change. She goes to a trainer at her town’s country club to try to get in shape. Her trainer happens to be a guy she remembers from high school. When she was a freshman, he was a senior. Rhodes was the guy who was always in trouble. He was a loner. There is something about Rhodes, that even early on, you know he is more than meets the eye. After spending some time training Natalie, he shows her that she is more than she thinks she is and needs to believe in herself.
Rhodes helps make a lot of positive changes in Nat’s life, but he’s also very hot and cold. Their relationship is tumultuous at times, but they develop some sort of friendship. Rhodes makes her feel more comfortable with herself. But Rhodes hasn’t had an easy life. He grew up in the foster care system, he’s not got anyone in his life and he does some unsavory things to make a living. It’s apparent he has feelings for Natalie, but he doesn’t want that bad to touch her. He tries to stay away. Until he can’t.
As I said earlier, Natalie is a character I could easily relate to. Some of the scenes in the book brought me to tears because I could just feel how she felt because I’ve been in situations like that. I adored Natalie and how she took control of her life. Rhodes, however, took me a longer to warm up to. His hot and cold personality turned me off at first, but once I realized why he was the way he was he grew on me and I started to love him as well! I loved the way he felt about Natalie and how good he made her feel about herself, just the way she was. They really did help and heal each other.
THIS BOOK! I loved it so much and I want to recommend it to anyone who reads NA. Kandi’s writing is truly stunning. This story moved me. It was beautiful and angsty and emotional and even a bit mysterious. It was a truly powerful and exceptional read for me. I’ll never forget this one- Weightless is a 5-star read for me and going on my favorites list!
At first I thought that our heroine Natalie was doing all of this change for a man, but this book is so much more than that. It's about a young woman who's never really been happy, but is only realizing it now. And she's 18, so that's understandable. It's a love story, yes, but it's almost more about Natalie's love story with herself. About her finding the strength inside that she didn't know she had. And speaking of the love story? Yeesh. Rhodes. Yeah. He's... *clears throat* he's good. You'll like him. They have a believable build to their relationship, and a lot of push/pull that works with the storyline. What really took me by surprise was the suspenseful element that appeared in the latter part of the book, and in a good way. I found myself breathing faster and reading faster, even though I didn't want it to end.
There was something so endearing about Natalie's struggle to find herself, to believe in herself. Love helped her, of course, but ultimately it had to come from her. And when it comes, when she sees herself the way that everyone else does, it's incredibly touching and beautiful. The reason it's so poignant, seeing Natalie come to that realization, is because the book puts you so firmly into her head and into her heart. It wouldn't work if anyone else had a POV, bc Natalie is what it's all about.
Weightless is the kind of book that you'll wish you could read for the first time again, and be jealous of all the people who get to do exactly that. It's the kind of book that could change someone's life by reading it.
I had a huge smile on my face when I finished, because it just made me feel so good. Besides giving up sleep to read (which I ALSO did for this book), that's the best compliment I can possibly give to an author. Kudos, Kandi, I'll be coming back for more!

Natalie is struggling, being dumped by her boyfriend has knocked her confidence. She's struggled with her weight and seeing her Ex with his skinny new girlfriend is just the push she needs to change her lifestyle.
She signs up with a personal trainer Rhodes, he may be perfect on the outside but Rhodes is struggling himself with his own personal demons.
This story shows don't judge people by what's on the outside. Because even beautiful thin people can be ugly on the inside.
I loved Natalie she is such a beautiful person and she has a very kind nature I just adored her. She's a lot stronger than she gives herself credit for.
This story was such an emotional journey and I loved how Natalie and Rhodes both helped each other face their demons they were perfect together.
I loved how far they grew and changed together without even realizing it. They were each other's strength when they were feeling at their worst.
A brilliant story that made my heart happy.
