This brush works, and doesn't annoy me. It is thick enough to gather pet hair and dust without repetitive swiping. It's springy enough to make a tidy pile, not so reactive that it scatters the dirt out again. It's sizeable enough to collect a big pile of floor sweepings, agile enough to use around the legs of furniture. There's a hole in the handle so I can hang it up (since leaving it lying in one position long enough would crimp the horsehair bristles). If I inadvertently sweep up wet flour off the kitchen floor, this brush will rinse clean and hang dry. It's no cheap oriental import that sheds bristles. This brush is as good as the one I grew up with and will wear for decades.

Not especially impressed with this brush. Most of the bristles are shiny and plastic looking, with maybe some thinner natural ones mixed in. Double checked the product description after receiving and found: "Black horsehair and fiber mix fill material . ." under "Product Features". I really doubt the brush is predominantly horsehair as the title suggests. Also, the brush was stored or packed in such a way that the bristles were deformed. Perhaps they would straighten out over time.

The brushes supplied with fireplace tool sets have, in my view, too short an array of bristles as well as too long a handle. This brush sweeps all the ash from the "shelf" in front of the woodstove's door very well as well as sweeping easily wood splinters and bits of ash from the rug in front of the stove. There is a hole through the wood handle through which I have threaded and tied a shoelace and it hangs proudly with the other fireplace tools.

The specifications posted by Amazon for this brush consistently say overall length is eight inches. I knew this could not be right, so I took a chance and ordered the brush anyway. Sure enough, the bristle section is eight inches and the handle section is at least another four inches. I've used the brush to sweep sawdust off the smooth workbench top and into a dustpan. The brush worked perfectly for this duty and is exactly the right length overall. I'm awarding only four stars because the bristles do sometimes come out and are left behind on the bench, as has been mentioned by at least two other reveiwers. It is too soon to know if this will be a serious defect. If I see too much bristle loss, I might take a small artist's paintbrush and work a little clear wood finish into each bristle hole in the handle to freeze the bristles in place. I paid $9.04 with free shipping.

I read the reviews and went ahead and placed an order for this brush. It was delivered swiftly. It feels good to the touch and it could work nicely except the bristles kept falling off. I am not just saying a few but every time I ran the palm of my hand across the tips of the bristles then a small bunch would break loose. A few seconds of this and my kitchen floor was slightly covered in small black bristles. I wanted a replacement and so I pressed a few buttons on amazon.com; I printed out a return label; I put the brush back in the original package; I swapped the labels on the package for the new return label and went to an UPS store and handed it in and all was good. A couple of days later the new brush came. The replacement brush. It has the exact same problem. No matter when I use the brush the bristles comes off. So this time it is a full refund which amazon was o.k. with. The customer service of amazon is impeccable and the ease of use of their website is very good but this product isn't worth the time and money to acquire. This is a product to avoid.

Duster is of decent quality but is not made in USA as description stated. I would of sent item back but I needed to use it. For your information the brush I received was made in Sri Lanka.

This "wood handle" shop brush actually has a plastic handle!!! The horsehairs started falling out the first time I used the brush. I definitely will not recommend this item and will never buy anything from this vendor again!!

This brush is described as a horsehair brush but it certainly is not. I have used horsehair brushes for my almost 40 years as a brick mason, and it fail to meet my expectations. Brushing freshly laid brick or block with a genuine horsehair brush does not leave beaded mortar that drys on the tips of the bristles like this brush does. This brush uses some kind of synthetic material. Fresh mortar will stick to the bristles of this brush and build up on the tips. I have to constantly keep cleaning the face of the bristles to minimize the mortar build up on the tips. A real horsehair brush does not have this problem. I am very disappointed in this brush being listed as horsehair.
