I just learned about this book three months ago through a relative. The subject of this book was my first cousin. I did not know Jack well because our families lived so far apart. My mother did not even know very much about Jack. In reading the story by Larry Godfrey I was overwhelmed by the way he must have been affected by knowing Jack. He actually wrote and self published the book! This is a monumental feat for anyone. It had to be the result of so many tangled emotions that Mr. Godfrey just had to share his experience as some form of attempt at self healing. I was deeply affected by the story as it developed through Mr. Godfreys written words. I would like to meet Mr. Godfrey some day. All of us who knew Jack feel just like Mr. Godfrey. I recommend the book to anyone who has regrets about an acquaintance from their past that could not be helped . Someone who will always haunt you for their brilliance, and their sad demise. What has ever happened to them? Wierd Jack will help you sort things out. I hope Mr. Godfrey has achieved some form of closure. I have bought many copies of the book and have shared them as gifts.

This hilarious and sad story of boys to men comes with a twist. On a serious search for knowledge, Jack took a detour. It's a two part story actually. Part 1 is about Jack's "quest for life" while part 2 is the author's compelling search for his lost friend. I wish it would have been longer.

Thanks for the kind words, Ramsay. With the help of a friend I was recently able to locate Jack after twelve years and talk to him a few times. He has adapted to his situation but still struggles with the 'voice in his head', as he calls it. Unfortunately I've lost contact with him again. Hopefully it won't take so long to find him, again...
