A really well thought out world with so many wonderful quirks! Most paranormals have the supernaturals either totally in the closet or have outed them. This book has them on the cusp, they are starting neighborhoods together and are keeping it down low but are tired of hiding.
I loved Alexi from the start! She is just the right kind of sassy spunky gal! She was endearing and relateable the whole time, even thought she is a vamp!
And Greg is delicious!! He isn't the typical chest beating Alpha werewolf. He has depth and sweetness along with his strength!
I love it when Weres and Vamps get together cause it is such an odd pairing and yet not really. It is the whole opposites attract syndrome that I adore!
The secondary characters in this book are awesome as well. I can not wait to get more stories and dish in this supernatural cul de sac! Love that this series is not sticking tow just the big two supernaturals and we will get all sorts of other paranormals in the mix.
The side story flows nicely and never slows the pace of the book. I love a good romance wrapped around a mystery!
The steam factor here was really enjoyable. It could have been a touch steamier but I'm not mad about what Ms Abshire delivered. I would not mind a welcome present like Alexi received!! The yummy hot and heavy action kept me rather warm!
This is another new author for me and I am so happy I gave her a shot. I will admit I almost passed cause the cover did not really grab me, do not make that mistake!! It is a great read and with fabulous story telling!
When Alexandria Cartwright moves into just such a neighborhood she is anticipating having to never move again to hide from human suspicion and to enjoy mixing with the fae, weres, demons, witches, warlocks and other vampires. When things go from bad to worse between clumsy movers and then a break in she questions her decision, her hunky next door neighbor helps swing things in the direction of sticking around for a while.
Gregory Holmes is a werewolf, he has no problem mixing his dating up with other paranormals in fact he is rather taken with the sexy vamp that just moved in next door. In an effort to woo her Greg is going to do every thing he can to help her get back the things that were stolen at the same time proving to her that not all men are users and jerks.
What a great premise for a paranormal book, its kind of like Erma Bombeck meets Anne Rice :O) In addition to the element of suspense created by the search for the thieves we have the steamy hot romance that brews like a witches cauldron between Alexi and Greg. We also meet plenty of other secondary characters that are engaging and funny and will be wonderful heros and heroines of their own books one day soon.
I received this book in exchange for my honest review.
More than three centuries of dealing with men being
scum can make a "young" vampire wary of trusting any man, werewolf or not. But not much can put off a werewolf who's found his mate.
Moving into a new neighborhood is always an adventure, but having someone from the moving company steal her most important valuables just after the move, dealing with conflicting emotions about her sexy neighbor, and getting mixed up in an investigation about murder makes for a rollercoaster of hope and despair, acceptance and denial, hot interaction and cool reluctance.
I enjoyed the plot and I loved the characters. Alexi is a headstrong, I-don't-need-a-man vampire who ends up falling for a very hunky werewolf who believes that chivalry isn't dead! The love scenes were pretty steamy and I found myself laughing out loud throughout the entire book. I thought the secondary characters were funny, well-written and supported the primary characters nicely.
This was my first book by Mary Abshire and I really enjoyed it. I'm looking forward to finding out more about the other neighbors in Midnight Gardens and catching up with Alexi and Greg. Good, solid read!
