I had been hooked on "Stella" in Xenophobia, but now I've got "Chuckles" I won't be able to forget.
While the ideas of "first contact" can be eerie - even frightening - Peter has the uncanny knack of weaving a tale that won't just have you riveted and turning the pages through the wee hours of the morning, but tossing in science and human qualities and 'voices' to 'hostile' aliens. Reading carefully, you will as I, be highlighting tidbits of humor mixed with messages of hope for humanity to go on; that the possibility of life past our tiny planet is not only a possibility but also something to look towards the future in our vast heavens and galaxies that surround us.
I highly recommend this book to people of all ages. In fact, the first two people I HAD to talk about to were my granddaughters, ages 9 and 13. While I would not put an age-bracket on this book (eg. 'YA'), it is refreshing to read a novel that not only held MY attention, but I can so highly recommend to ANYONE of ANY AGE.
The heroine, Ash, is someone you will be cheering on and her wit and bravery in the face of danger definitely keep you wondering as you turn each page, "NOW what is she going to do - let alone SAY?" EXCELLENT, excellent, excellent writing!
By: Peter Cawdron
Narrated by: Lauren Ezzo
Everytime I listen to one of Peter Cawdron's books I feel so satisfied and refreshed. I love his books. I feel my brain has gotten what it has been craving. This book was no different.
This is after the arrival of alien life but it is not like any other alien life in any other book! No, this is soooo different and strange. I wish I could invite all sci-fi lovers to PLEASE read his books. A girl in a wheel chair, a touch chick she is, she is the one that makes this book POP, her and Chuckles, lol. I can't and won't give more details but read some of his books.
The narrator, oh my god!! Perfect!!! I felt like I was there, I almost forgot I was home and not there with the soldiers and the girl. She is one heck of an actress!
This book is absolutely worth a read!!
