Inseparable as children, they have all taken separate paths in life. Three went to college and three stayed in San Pedro. They are about to make the ultimate sacrifice, choosing friends or family, to decided if they are American or Serbian-Croatian. I enjoyed this film because it combined the writer's personal childhood experiences with the devastating war in the Balkans which decimated the former Yugoslavia. A world away from the killing fields and concentration camps, these six individiuals must deal with the represcussions of this conflict on the Serbian-Croatian community in Southern California. It raises the questions that many children on immigrants have about their identity as both an American and as part of the culture of their families.

As an American remotely aware of the Balkan crisis I found this film to give an extensive overview of the history. However, the film is touching and charged with emotion. I was recommended this film by a friend o serve as a parable to the curren times we are living in. Bravo for "Welcome to San Pedro" and director Sasha Knezev.
