Anywho, Ana is this lovely lady who needs some change. Just get up and leave Sugartown, that's her big dream. Which takes a turn when this very hot guy shows up. Elijah and Ana right from the start you knew something was going to happen. But Elijah is here because of a deal and to work. He doesn't plan to stay here long or fall for anyone.
But of course nothing is smooth sailing around here. Ana and Elijah seem like the perfect duo and things aren't going too bad for them. They hit a few bumps, but you see Elijah won't quit and Ana needs to relax and not be so scared to have her heart broken again.
However, when Ana's life is in dangers, Elijah screws another while drunk, Ana just can't take it anymore. To top it all off, her ex does something horrid to her. That's when she runs to Elijah and then he does something. In a way it shows he loves her, in another way.....it was illegal.
It took time, it was a wild ride, but the ending was so worth it. Finally get the ending you'd be hoping for. I can't wait to dive into the rest of the books.
"He removes his helmet, runs a hand through his faux-hawk and my heart practically stops. I look at Holly, who turns, then looks back at me, “Oh my—”
I cried and I hurt and I felt so much for both Elijah and Ana. And yet I know sign of a good author is their ability to make you connect so strongly with the characters that your emotions are tied up in their emotions. And Carmen does this incredibly well. She doesn't shy away from having Elijah and Ana deal with some pretty major issues and I can't help but admire Carmen for doing so.
The supporting characters were also really interesting and well developed. I loved Ana's dad Bob and her little brother Sammy (his lisp is the cutest). And Ana's best friend Holly is absolutely hilarious and I love her lack of filter!! I'm looking forward to getting to know Holly more in the next book!
I fell in love with Elijah and as an Aussie myself I'll have to hunt down Sugartown and find Elijah to say hi 😉😉
"I just wanna sit down and admire the holy mother of hotness that is decrepit-bike-riding, tattoo-sleeved, dimple-popping, Elijah Cade." (Me too!!!)
