How Weleda Grows the Calendula Flowers for Its Baby Care Products
Growing & Harvesting
The calendula used in Weleda’s baby care products is grown in our own Biodynamic gardens in Germany. In the summer, when they are fully bloomed, the flowers are handpicked in the early morning, when their quality is the highest.
Within hours of being handpicked, the calendula blossoms are carried to the adjacent production facility and immediately processed to ensure they don't lose any of their vitality or quality.
The splitting and chopping of the flowers is done as carefully and as gently as possibly to maintain the quality of the blossoms and stems.
For Your Weleda Baby
Weleda Baby Care products help safely and gently soothe and nourish delicate skin, giving comfort to babies and parents alike.

Clean your baby’s bottom with a damp towel or tissue and Calendula Lotion or Oil. Afterwards, apply a generous amount of Calendula Diaper Care and rub it in to create a protective layer between the sore bottom and any excess moisture. If your child has a very red and sore rash, it may be best to use Calendula Diaper Care each time you change the diaper. Once the skin has calmed, you can switch to using Calendula Baby Cream for the daily care of your baby’s bottom.

It's a very thick ointment unlike weleda which is a light lotion type of application. Destin works for those horrible rashes that have the baby kicking and screaming. Weleda is just a little too thin to really penetrate and work deep in the skin in those instances. Apply the cream and the baby should calm down pretty quickly. Add a layer of weleda for good measure since it soaks in quickly it helps work the thicker stuff through as well.
Basically, the weleda is great and it helps keep away most diaper rashes and cure very light cases. In extreme cases, you're still gonna need a heavier option.
It definitely works to use it for pimples or a mask! Just dab it on a pimple and it will be ready to pop by the lording!
I also use it as a mask and I have always struggled with my skin but this diaper rash cream leaves it looking glowing and so smooth! It also evens out the tone of my skin and takes out my blackheads very quickly on my nose area!
So not your typical review but it's definitely worth a shot to try! It definitely worked for me even though I had always struggled with my skin!
Also in addition to this, I normally don't wear make up so I'm sure that has a lot to do with it too. But even right after I use it as a mask I can right away tell a difference in the smooth appearance of my skin.
My baby had a very persistent raw skin kind of rash since birth that lasted 5-6 weeks- even my doctor couldn't figure out why it wouldn't go away.
She told me to try different types of creams - particularly recommending 'Boudreaux's Butt Paste'. That one, for some reason, made the rash get bigger. Desitin didn't do anything. A&D, Aquaphor, coconut oil, - NOTHING. Until I finally tried this cream. Not only did it clear the rash in a few days- it keeps my baby's bottom super soft. Love the subtle scent too.
One slight drawback is that there is some liquid that seems to be separated from the cream, so when I squeeze the tube, there will always be a small drizzle of liquid that comes out together with the cream.
Also, I wish the tube cap was a flip top - and not a screw on.
However - I still love this diaper cream and will continue to use it.
