From the Author
Writing this book helped me understand the difference between "re-visiting" and "re-living" an experience. Each journal entry provided insight into my life and simultaneously brought me right back to a specific moment. Re-visiting these moments allowed me to see something different. It supported me in identifying the message or acknowledging growth or need for growth. However, re-living took me into an emotional tail-spin. I was so caught up in the emotions that I couldn't even read the words on the page.
I appreciate the process of writing. In someways, writing the book felt like journaling. I've been able to continue my healing and embrace my new normal. This simply means embracing a new way of living. I don't have my father to call nor can I watch him play with the grandsons he never met. Everything is different than what I expected as a youth. I don't recall thoughts of my father dying before I had children. My new normal required that I forgive myself or let go of any idea of the past being different.
The book concludes with "Heartwork." A term I coined to replace homework. The healing associated with the loss of a loved one only takes place in the heart. So, I offer questions which help the reader connect to her heart and allow the answers to the questions presented in the book come forward.
It's my hope you'll make the choice to say, "It is well" with your soul!
