Great heat gun. I used one long ago for work and just purchased one for home. My only complaint is that nowhere in the write-up for the product does it say anything about having nozzle attachments included. Turns out it came with a bag of 5 different ones which, had I known, would have saved me $11.88 for the one I purchased separately.

Wish I had bought this years ago. Works great on heat-shrink tubing and fits into tight areas to shrink that tubing. Seems like a quality tool so far.

I'm deducting one star for poor quality control at Weller. My heat gun arrived with one of the heat nozzles missing, #6956, the only one I really needed. Amazon couldn't replace this $2 part alone so the entire heat gun had to be returned and replaced. The replacement had all four nozzles.

Great quiet heat gun! Hot air that exits the nozzle is calm, meaning that it's not blowing hot air like a blow gun. Works great on shrink tubing however, if you’re going to be using it for "production quantities" then you might consider looking for a harder blowing heat gun only because this little guy cannot keep up with large, fast paced volumes. That being said though... Because of the low velocity air flow, I use this heat gun to remove/install SMT semiconductor IC's packages such as QFP's, DFN's, QFN's, SOT's, SOJ's, Chip Resistors/Capacitors or you name it! The low velocity air flow does blow the parts off the board; it’s also very localized!

I got the idea of using this heat gun from a salesman you demonstrated his $15,000 SMT removal and replacement system that was nothing more than a microprocessor controlled heat gun on steroids. I told him sorry, could not afford and promptly whipped out my little heat gun and performed the same task using the super computer between my ears. All you need to do add a little bit of liquid flux to the part you want to remove, heat it up until the solder turns shiny (molten) then use a pair of tweezers to remove the part.

To install a part, it's basically the same procedure except in reverse. It may take you some practice but I can easily remove a 144-pin QFP in a few minutes. I never tried installed a BGA yet but have removed them.

All in all, this little heat gun is a must for any work bench. It's light weight, quiet and will sit up by itself. The gun has two modes, it will blow hot air or it will blow cold ambient air. I recommend always running the cold air to cool it down before shutting it off completely. In other words, do not immediately turn off the heat gun after use, instead switch it to "cold" for a minute or two first.

there is a reason this device looks like it was made in the 70's. that is because i is the same product they've been making for decades! my father has one and now i have one. 20 years later Weller is making the same heat gun because it just plain works great!

This was a present for a relative that needed this Heat Gun in piano repair work. The set of different nozzles are extremely useful for directing hot air flow. Read the product description for the details. Weller is a well known and trusted company that also manufactures soldering guns/irons and olther soldering products. A good buy here on Amazon.

This is a great heat gun for small, localized work like heat shrink tube. It has several tips for different things, some with deflectors so as not to heat surrounding items. Even without a tip adapter, the output is small, much smaller than local home store $10 heat guns. It is very sturdily built, has a hook on the back for hanging between uses. Great, if pricey, for it's designed purpose. Won't remove paint from the outside of your house, of course, unless you're VERY patient!

Very happy with the product. Excellent for detailed heating of only the wire you're working on. Nice quick heat response. Will be used for years to come. Did Tig weld 2 of the attachments to prevent them from breaking in the future. This was a suggestion from one of my co-workers who has this same heat gun.
