The dog took this chew and spit it out several times. Meanwhile, it got damp and sticky. I broke it and it crumbled into 3 pieces and he ate 1 piece and wouldn't eat the rest. The remaining 2 pieces crumbled more and I had to pick them up one by one from the carpet. I dumped it into his food bowl and he ate them with his food. The next time, I put a whole one on his dog food and he ate it but you could see that it was all stuck in his mouth like peanut butter, and he struggled to get it down. After that, my sister put it whole in his food and he spit it out on the floor. The 2nd time, he broke it up into pieces and spit it out on the floor, so my sister got mad and told me to take the container home.
I found that if I break it up and put it in his food, he will eat it, but obviously, this chew doesn't taste good enough for him to eat it whole and he doesn't like the pastiness of it.
I can't really speak to the other touted benefits since he hasn't eaten it consistently, so that is something you will have to figure out yourself.
Tip: don't give your dog the recommended dose to start. Give half or less because the probiotics can give your dog diarrhea if he/she is not used to it, and I'm pretty sure that won't be too fun!
