I bought a pair of these for my son and myself and I find them an outstanding pair of gloves. I wanted some gloves to wear for light-duty use for daily chores and such. I have quite a bit of experience in outdoor activities such as hunting, fishing, woodcutting, construction and the like. I also used to work as a material handler where most of my day put me outside in some very nasty weather, so I have some idea of what to look for when it comes to gloves that need to be durable, insulated, and waterproof.

I can say that I wish I had these 20 years ago when I spent most of my day outside in the winter!

Although my use of these gloves certainly won't put these gloves through their paces, my son's use of them, on the other hand (no pun intended) certainly will! He works in the well-drilling industry in the high-desert southwest, so he sees some of the toughest, wettest, hands-on activity you can experience - along with moderately cold weather that typically sees the temps drop well below freezing overnight.

After using his gloves for about a month, he says they deliver as promised: "They're warm, tough, and waterproof. They don't look so great after the first use, but hey - they are work gloves after all!!"

My hand size typically runs M to XL, depending on what kind of gloves I'm wearing. For nitrile disposable gloves worn while performing aircraft or automotive maintenance, I like the tight fit that medium provides. However, for work gloves, I typically use large but like to try them on before purchasing. I was hesitant on getting these in large and thought about going up to XL, but finally decided to take a chance on L. I'm glad I did because the large fits quite well.

I'll post future updates and see how these hold up in his line of work and how long he is able to use them.

These are the first glovesI have ever owned that actually kept my fingers warm. I have tried fleece,goretex,wool and any other material out there. These beat them all. My fingers were always cold after snow blowing, but now digging out of winter storm Nemo in these gloves my hands felt great. They are a bit pricey, but well worth the price.

These are nice gloves for short work sessions outdoors, half an hour to an hour. They're warm at temps down to about 10F but they don't breath and get pretty wet inside which is why I wouldn't want to depend on them for a long day outside. The construction seems solid and flexible. Worst problem is they run small. I bought XL and find they are pretty tight compared to most XL gloves.

Earlier I gave these a very positive review. They seemed waterproof maybe the first 2 times I used them. The third time, I was outside for a few hours in the rain on a day where the temp was in the high 30's and they were about as waterproof as untreated knit cotton. For this year, Wells Lamont apparently redesigned their "waterproof" winter work glove, so I took a chance on the new design, but I also decided I wanted to test them before I used them. I filled a bathroom sink with cold water and submerged most of my hands while wearing these gloves. I planned to keep them there for about 5 minutes. (If you think this sounds like an unreasonable test, remember, most "water PROOF" gloves, specifically including these, achieve this property with a waterproof liner ie Gore-tex or something Gore-tex like and therefore should be waterproof when submerged) All was well until my hands got a bit stiff and I started flexing them. Opening and closing your hands while wearing these in water is like opening the sluice on a dam. The interior of the gloves (and naturally my hands) went from bone dry to soaked in less than 60 seconds. Now I know why my my original pair worked the first two times I used them, and then failed totally the third time. The waterproof liner is either poorly sealed where its attached to the shell or insulation, or else its as delicate as tissue paper or both. In any case, in actual use the waterproof liner either has tiny holes that will open up to become huge holes as you wear the gloves and your hands flex, or else flexing your hands tears the liner. Either way, these gloves do NOT stay waterproof after you've worn them a few times. And I now know from experience that learning this outside on a cold day that's rainy or snowy REALLY BLOWS.Read more ›

Brand new these are very nice gloves. I used them for work and have held up very well. Extremely warm! However, like others have mentioned, your hands will start to sweat. And I mean SWEAT! I took them off after a 12 hour shift and and the insides were soaking wet. And that is the achilles heal of these gloves. They're so good they're too warm and once your hands start to sweat there goes the warmth. It took about a week for them to dry out, but I also sped up the process by using a hair dryer. If you don't plan on using these for any type of strenuous activity, heres your next pair of gloves. However, if you plan to work in them, you might want to consider something else.

Subject: Service Request - Wells Lamont 7660L

G’morning and Happy New Years,

Due to the historically mild winter we’ve had in Connecticut, I just used the gloves (model 7660L) for the first time this winter to shovel snow last Tuesday. After about 40 minutes of that fun, when I went to remove the gloves, the interior lining pulled out of one of the glove. While the gloves were purchased last February, they only have a dozen wearing at most since I only wear them to shovel. This is an unsatisfactory defect that I would like corrected. Please advise how I should proceed.

Salud,
<me>
