First, this is a nice large tent that allows you to stand up and move around. It probably sleeps 10, but we use it with only two people and a large dog who has her bed in the middle of the tent floor. It's relatively simple to set up with two people and could probably be set up by just one person, if necessary.
The zippers on the windows and door all work smoothly and the rain guard fits nicely.
That's where the caveat comes in - the rain guard. It works well for light showers and moderate rain but in the spring of 2015, we got caught in a true downpour in Red Rock Canyon in Oklahoma. OMG. This was no ordinary rain - it literally fell in buckets from the night sky. I woke up to a fine mist on my face and soon after, my friend on the other side of the tent woke up to a puddle on the cot. The rain was pounding down so hard that it penetrated the rain guard and after that, it pooled on the tent ceiling and dripped through.
That's the only time it happened, though, and we've had it in moderate rains other times without trouble.
So, the rain guard, while good - is not enough to withstand driving rain that does not let up. If you think you're going to be in a rain that hard, I'll tell you what we did - the day after - and it worked perfectly. We purchased one of those cheap plastic drop cloths painters use. Just a lightweight one that cost under $5 and the both of us worked it up and under the rain guard - so it formed an impenetrable layer between the tent and the rain guard. It rained again the next night - not quite so hard but we didn't get a drop in the tent. Unfortunately, because it'd been wet the night before, it was quite humid in the tent. We run a personal propane heater in the tent to stay warm, so it was a little like a sauna. LOL
It's unlikely you'll ever be set up in a rain like the one we had that night, but take along a plastic drop cloth just in case. You can open the windows to vent the tent.
After the rainy camping trip - we brought the tent home, set it up, aired it and cleaned it out and the next time we set it up in the summer it was just perfect. There are too many great things about this tent to really rate it down because Mother Nature decided to send a deluge one night.
If it's just two of you, take a big rug for the center of the tent, bring a couple of lawn chairs in and hand a lantern from the hook at the highest part of the tent roof. Plenty of room for cots, a cooler and, as I mentioned, a dog bed.
I would absolutely buy this tent again. Just bring along that plastic drop cloth.
Feb 2016: Received tent as B-day gift from my wife, purchased on her Prime acct. Took 4x 'grown men' (term used loosely) and 2 high schoolers on hunting trip. 6 cots across, 4 nights no problem. Plenty of room for sleeping, getting in and out of cots and getting dressed each morning. Ceiling is tall. 6' 6" or better. Floor of tent is not "tub" like some brands but is nylon tarp type material. I added medium duty 10 x 20 tarp as ground cloth which was great. Center section of tent is probably 10x10. Wings are 8' wide at end. So it's slightly football shaped. Still wide enough for standard cots though. Tent was up and un-bothered by afternoon winds in the 30mph range. No rain during use so can't speak to that. Rain fly is neat design though and I have little concern about potential rain use. This thing is huge. Go buy a 10 x 20 tarp, lay it out flat and then you'll have a good sense of the size. It feels like a barn inside, it seems like we could park our Yukon XL inside. Pretty awesome, I'm super happy and can't wait to use it with my family of 5 (including our Pak-n-play!). Photos added later this week when sweeping out prior to storage.
