Review

“Even Karina and Lindsay can’t escape bad dates. This book will keep you laughing on those lonely nights at home on the couch with their hilarious and epic dating disasters. They are great sports. Self-deprecating and funny. And they remind us that all we can do is laugh it off when Mr. Right is actually Mr. Wrong. This book is like happy hour with your girlfriend—gossip, laughs, and great stories about guys.” -Maria Menounos, actress, journalist, and TV host

“I once said that if you could put Karina and Lindsay together you would have the perfect woman. Well, together they’ve written the perfect book. It’s hilarious, light-hearted, and delivers an insightful glimpse into the minds of how women feel about guys and dating. It’s refreshing to see these two having a chuckle about men while making fun of themselves in the process. If you want a feel-good read, these two have written it.” -Ralph Macchio, actor

"Karina and Lindsay have brilliantly chronicled their dating escapades and disasters. It’s perfect 'toilet reading'. Really, during your little private bathroom time, there’s nothing better to ponder than somebody else's humiliating experience...because it makes you feel just a little less horrified about your own." -Lisa Ann Walter, Actress and Comedian

As a fan of Karina's from Dancing With The Stars, I was fascinated to hear that she and her manager/BFF/look-a-like were collaborating on a book. It was a fun and enjoyable read full of stories that were hilarious and would make you say, "WTF?!?!" out loud. I love how the book infuses anecdotes along with some of their male friends' responses and perspectives to the dating disasters they share. I felt transported into their world as if I was sharing stories with some of my girlfriends. Overall, I would highly recommend this book. These are successful women who have struggled like we all have but have come out feeling empowered and emphasizing that women should not settle and value their worth. Why settle for crumbs, when we deserve the whole loaf!!!!

I loved this book. It's as if really cool, funny, bright women sat around a table with a few martinis and dished the dirt of their worst dates. It's true, it's delicious and hilarious....like reading about my life and my friends---the good, the bad, the mortifying, and some of the masterful revenge. You get tools here, too, like How to Escape Out of a Bathroom Window, How to Treat Mr. Gay When He Thinks He's Not, etc. etc. I had so much fun with this; I read it in one sitting. Could not put it down. Now I want to have friends over and have our own martinis and stories. Thanks, Karina and Lindsay. Get this book for all your friends!!!

This was well written by both Lindsay and Karina and everyone else who had their hand in it. It made me laugh. Their true life experiences written down was well written and it only could happen to them. But those are life lessons that they each of these ladies learned and will carry with them. I would recommend this book for all the single ladies to read and learn from these ladies and to go with their lives, not to let the mistakes lead their lives, but learn from their mistakes. Life goes on, that man is not the only fish in the ocean, their will be a better catch, just use better bait!!!!!

This book is hilarious!!!! A must read!! I love how Karina and Lindsay turned these dates into something they can laugh about! They make fun of themselves which shows they are just like all of us! I love that this book is so easy to relate to and that they really open up about these dates. This book is not to point anyone out, but just to show that no matter who you are, even celebrities, that bad dates are unavoidable and the best way to get through them is to Laugh! The comments they write to each other during the stories are priceless! I feel like I know them so well just by reading this and I definitely would love to hang out with them!!! A genius book!

p.s. I literally had tears from laughing so hard during some of the stories!

This book is probably the best book I have EVER read I have never laughed so hard! It makes you feel better to know that that maybe your worst date wasn't really that bad compared to these dating disasters.

Absolutely the worst, shallowest, most superficial book I have ever read. These women remind me of a clique of middle schoolers who think they have a monopoly on coolness and everyone else is inferior and should be made fun of incessantly. It wasn't even funny...in fact I think I barely smiled once.

I had originally bought this book in the hope that it would contain some wisdom that I could give to my daughter who lives in LA and is in a totally dead end relationship. However after reading this book, her relationship doesn't look quite as awful. LA must be a far more totally screwed up place than I imagined. I am donating the book to the public library. .

The one bright spot was the acknowledgements at the end. The woman expressed genuine love and warmth for their friends and family which kind of redeemed them in my mind.

My advise...pass on this book for sure. If you want to read something uplifting, try "A Woman of Substance" by Barbara Taylor Bradford. Maybe to get a good man, you have to be a better woman.

I have been a fan of Karina Smirnoff for the many years she has been on DWTS so when I heard she and her BFF/Manager Lindsay Reilly had written a book, I ordered it. I've always thought Karina was funny as well as super talented and reading this book you just get the feeling that Karina & Lindsay are both so down- to- earth, funny & real "girls' girls" that they would be so much fun to hang out with & have no trouble fitting in with any group! Their "dating disaster" stories are told in "colorful, occasionally a little off-color" language just like real girlfriends talk to each other when they are hanging out and having a good time!

The format they use to tell each story is very conversational and it feels intimate. Karina and Lindsay alternate relating their stories and the other one inserts how the "disaster" should have been avoided or what lesson should be learned from it! They also have comments/chapters from other female friends and from three of their close male friends. I thought the guys comments added a great touch and added to the fun. We should all be so lucky to have these three guys as friends!

Underneath all of these fun "girl, you won't believe this!" stories, are the themes of trying to balance career, family, motherhood, egos and break-ups, and what really is important for relationships to survive. Who can't relate to those questions and struggles? It is also a story of a real, true friendship between these two women and how supportive they are of each other.

Both Karina and Lindsay's Mothers share their advice on what characteristics/qualities they feel are important in finding a "true love/man of substance" and that section was one of my favorites in the book.
