Claire is very nice, caring, and very trusting art teacher who had no luck in her love life. After lying to a coworker about having a boyfriend to bring to her wedding, Claire is in a pickle. She hires Theo from Hotties for Hire and sparks fly. Claire feels drawn to Theo and the chemistry is off the charts. Claire is such a beautiful character. She's a great person and sees things in Theo he fails to see in himself and gives him things he never had before. She was perfect for him and he was perfect for her. Theo is a drifter, always on the move. He doesn't commit and is chained down by his troubling past. But Claire stirs things in him he never felt before and finds himself wanting to stay, be what she needs, despite not feeling good enough for her. He just can't stay away from her.
I love Theo. He is so damaged and broken. Each day he spends with Claire is a battle to fight those demons and insecurities. I love that she makes him bring those demons into the light. He helps him cope with his guilt and his childhood. She makes him better. Not only that he makes her better. Claire plays things safe, afraid of being hurt an rejection. She let it keep her from the things she really wanted in life and he makes her feel comfortable enough to enjoy those things that held her back. I liked that they both had battles to fight and they were able to do that because of each other. Their love was something to admire. It sunk deep down into my bones and I could seriously cry at their love story. I felt so connected to these characters. Love is so powerful and trust is not something to fear.
I loved this book so much. I love broken characters and Theo is definitely broken. I liked his road to discovery. With his ability to finally open up about his childhood with his parents, he was able to see how it affected him in the present. I liked how he worked those things out before he was able to give himself to Claire the way he wanted to. But it started wit her, she drew out those feelings. He wanted to open up to her, trust her, love her, and for her to give him another chance. It is so bittersweet in the end. We do not have to be prisoners to our past. Melanie has written another 5 star read. I loved this book so much that I want to read it all over again. I highly, highly recommend.
Claire is a school teacher that is very nurturing with everyone she encounters in life, but is not a risk taker. She’ll go out of her way to help others, but seems to forget about doing the same for herself. Claire is invited to a fellow school teachers wedding and the thought of once again going without a date and sitting at the singles table is something she can’t bear.
Theo is a closed off drifter, getting antsy if he stays in one place too long that refuses to count on anyone else. He’s a broken man with a tortured past. In order to make ends meet he takes on work as a rent-a-date; no strings attached, just the way likes it.
What Theo didn’t count on was feeling a connection to his “employer” Claire, when she hires him for three hours to take her to her coworkers wedding. What was supposed to be one night of pretending to love one another, turns into a night a passion that neither could forget. Theo doesn’t do relationships, but the pull Claire has over him is something he can’t ignore.
The two embark on a journey of learning to trust someone other than yourself and take chances in life…to JUMP! The struggles these two go through are real, heartfelt and sad. I love Claire, she has a heart of gold and likes to see the good in everyone. Although not one to take risks, she has an outlook on life that is both refreshing and new to Theo. He struggles with letting go of the past and counting on someone else he is sure will eventually leave him. They give each other hope for something more in life.
I loved taking this journey with Theo and Claire. This is a beautiful love story that will surely put a smile on your face!
The heroine is a young woman, definitely a born teacher and just a good person. She like every other human being has her issues. Is she good enough?, is she loveable?, why hasn't she found THE ONE? and on and on. I have known people just like her. Probably everyone of us has a friend just like her or we are her! She encourages others to succeed but she seems to put restrictions on herself. She has a lot of fears that are holding her back. Most are not even rational but nevertheless they are hers to deal with - if she chooses to and so far she doesn't. But, it does keep her from failing. You can't be rejected if you don't put yourself out there whether it is personal or professional.
Invited to a wedding and determined to not sit at the Singles Table, she makes up a date and then she has to deliver. So she goes to a Rent A Date website and picks a date. Of course, he is the hero. Now, talk about a guy with issues, this guy has a lot of baggage. So far the only person that suffers is him. He never gets involved, he doesn't stick around, he makes no promises and he doesn't get attached. He thinks he is doing just fine until he meets his latest client.
The wedding façade goes off without a hitch. They convince everyone they are a newly formed couple. He is gorgeous and she is a beautiful, smart, kind and gifted woman. At the end of the date she is wishing there could be more but he has said up front that theirs is a one time deal with no sexual contact. He is drawn to her but he knows with his past it can never be more. Somehow they manage just one more time, over and over.
But he has some deep seated issues that he doesn't know how to get beyond. She wants him but she doesn't know all that is bothering him or how to help him. The characters develop as they learn to face some issues and to move forward. Now some reviewers were a little put out because she took him back time and time again. I for one, was glad she was mature enough to see that he was not perfect and he did have issues that only he could work through but that he was worth it. Maybe that is the problem with a lot of relationships today. Everyone wants the perfect mate but they don't want to accept them for who they are and accept that they are not perfect.
I thought it was a really good story. I enjoyed it. I found it fun in places, entertaining, and a bit of a good lesson on life and how we are a product of our beginnings. I would definitely recommend it. It is HOT in the sex department so be aware if that is an issue for you. Another thing I really liked about this story is that it was very much middle America. There was no penthouse apartment, limo driver, private plane, etc. They were just average folks, his car was 6 years old!! They were more real for me.
I was not paid for this review. I am not an author nor do I know one. I am not kin to this writer. I am a reader and this is my opinion, nothing more, nothing less. 10/17/17
