I purchased this via Amazon so not sure why it is not showing 'verified purchase'. Beautifully and sensitively written; Ms. Olin has clearly researched her material and her text is thought provoking; The songs she has written lyrics to are beautiful and moving; a great study for Easter or any time of the year.
I rarely take the time to review books. When I do, it is because the book is either extraordinary or unusual in some aspect/s. Linda Bonney Olin's book is both extraordinary and unusual. I was intrigued by the concept of using the witness of various people who were there at the resurrection of Jesus, to tell the story of what happened, and most importantly, how they were feeling at the time. The feelings evoke truly personal, thought-provoking questions about this phenominal event in human history. The music, the musings, and the prayers make this latest offering by Olin a must have for people who appreciate a moving devotional during the holidays or, truly, at any time. I believe churches would appreciate using this work to bring the message to young and old in a fresh and worshipful way. Buy more than one as this work makes a lovely gift as well!
I was sad when I finished the book, so full of moving meditations and beautiful music. And I can't wait to talk to the pastor and his team at my church about the book. Not only does it give you meat and great suggestions for the programming but it generates more ideas for what could be done to enhance worship, both personal and community.
Linda Bonney Olin provides an opportunity to reflect on our place in the crowd at Calvary. Through scriptural truth, thought provoking questions and the use of music (the language of the soul), this study and meditation will move hearts of individuals and groups alike.
